Im trading in the viper this week for an APEX. Im going with the GT but am concidering the LTX also. Any feed back would be apreciated. Is the ride of the longer track worth the sacrafice in handling and speed?

Thank you, Jim

What sacrifice? Longer is better.
And the longer track is for the added TRACTION and track life, not ride.

BTW: That engine SERIOUSLY overpowers a 121" track. You remember that the 121" length came as an appropriate match with the early 600's. With the early 500's, it was shorter, and the 3-400's, shorter yet. Each larger engine came with a similarly longer track until it got to 700 when they stopped. Think of the 4-stroke 1000 as a 2-stroke 800. If 121 is appropriate for 600, then 136 is for 700, and 144 is for 800. The 1000 only *slightly* overpowers a 136.

Well if that's the case, then I guess you answered my question about adding a Turbo to a 121 FX Nytro RTX ! Funny though how guys are still going to do it....I'd say if you have enough lug, say a 1.5 or 1.75 on the shorty, you'll be happy with the Apex. They do have their strong points, like sharper handling and less weight, but you have to figure out what works best for your type of riding.

95% of my riding is groomed trail.
5% lake and river running.
I don`t do any boondocking where I ride as it`s a sure way to loose trails.
I do no the longer the track the more push you get in the corners. Also more rotating weight = less top end.But every one I`ve talked to that owns one says the ride quality of the 136 over the 121 is worth it.

Groomed trail I would stay with the 121"

I want longer some year but I love being able to flip her through the corners. 136 reduces that some depends on what track and if you run studs though. The shortie is better for trailering and storing as well :)

You know, I had that same thought. I installed an EDGE suspension under an XCR and then streched it to 136" - as an experiment with that exact idea in mind. I ride hard, mostly groomed trail, love the Sat PM bumps, and the occasional lake runs.

Honestly, the thing would try to remove your arms it accelerated so hard, but my play in the corners was done. Loss of the former playfulness in the corners was just too big a price for me to pay. That'll be my last 136". To be 100% fair though, EVERY other facet of the sleds operation was improved with the 136". But that's me..... New owner of '07 ApexRTX.

LOL...gotta love these threads....

I was 121 owner with my 06RTX. Always spun the track. I messed around with setting after setting and stil the same outcome. Spinning. I had 192 1.375 studs in that track. Still was able to spin. I would have to agree, that the Genisis over powers a 121. I then stretched it her out to 136 and ran the 168 up the middle. It wasn't near as bad. Of course I also put an expert under the RTX. I know it's an never ending argument about which corners better, but "IN MY OPINION" I see no loss of ability. No one has ever really gotten away from in the twisting trails, unless there skill level is superior to mine.
The ride is so much better, some say the 136 will bridge the washboard bumps better. I like the added traction.
Now, this year I am leaving the 136 behind and going to a 144 1.5" crossover track with no studs. I may have to work a little getting her around really tight turns, but just like when I went from the 121 to a 136, after the first ride or two, I was back in full swing.

My personal opinion, get the Attak. ( ltx )

Whether you go 121 or 136 they are both capable chassis,if you are going to do trail with some rough trail I would go with the 121.These sleds are hard enough to air out and throw around in the tight stuff without the xtra length of a 136.On the other hand if you plan on doing trail/rough trail with boondockin then the 136 would be your whip.Just my .02 hope it helps your decision making other wise whatever choise you make it will not be a poor one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :4STroke:

Ive been riding sleds with a 121 track for ever and love the twistys. But im getting to the point of wanting more comfort, now its crunch time.
Thanks again for all the info. :o|

all depends where ur riding. a 136 is too much IMO for where i ride. trails are tight whoped and twisty dome only 5-7 feet wide. if ur tails are wide and gromed then a 136 is the way to go. if ur ride tight twisty trails a 121 would be ur answer.

i ride both, get the 136.no difference in the twisties, put a 13 mm sway in the either one and u are good to go
