Just curious,Could you possibly use a strap or rope to pull start a R.S. by winding it around drive clutch like we used to do with some of our old sleds?Would it be too hard or to dangerous?

I do like a challenge! I might just try it then.I'm guessing it would start with a low or dead battery if you could crank it over quick enough?I'm just thinking ahead for when or if I would ever have to do this.

It would take a few pulls cold but dun it warm. Easy to do if sled has been running.

Cool! Thanks for the replies. Just when I think I got a brainstorm idea,a lot of you are WAY ahead of me! Good to know it can be done.

I very much wish Yamaha would give you a recoil starter as a backup for when the battery or starter goes dead.

You mean "if" not "when" the battery goes dead. If you properly maintain your battery, you should not have any problems with it not starting. Not saying that it wont happen, but it certainly shouldnt.
With that said, I am going to use a statement posted in another thread somewhere on this site: "Does your car have a backup recoil for when your battery goes dead?"
In theory you could say that and it would be valid, but practically how often do you ride your sled in the high country over 8' of snow off cornices? I'm not too worried about it because i'm in shape and can walk if I have too(been there done that), but not everyone is.
An option might be to buy a Brunton or SundanceSolar solar panel. Their lightweight, compact and can charge one of these batteries up pretty quick. ~$300. I may be investing in one soon.

It won't do you any good to pull start it if you have a dead battery, because if the battery is dead it won't stay running. I can guarantee this because it happened to me.

Thanks QCRider. That was one thing I was wondering,if it would run on a dead battery once pull started.Guess I'll get the compact jumper cables, along with doing the usual maintainance charging.
QC, it happened to me twice. the stator was not charging enough and the battery went dead. Started the engine with cable booster and engine ran fine. So, it should work.

I have started my rx warrior with no battery and it ran but the gauge turned on an off while it ran and I did´nt dare to ride it with out the battery, I was afraid that the gauge would be damaged.

Well, my wife's Vector had enough battery to start the sled, but would not run for long before the battery would be too discharged to keep the sled running. I brought it in to the dealer, and they checked everything out and simply put a new fully charged battery in and it has been great for 1000 miles since.
