How to start a phazer off the clutch?

As For my other question: anyone know if these sleds will run if the battery is dead?
I don't believe it will work as the fuel injectors need to pressurize. This is the sound you hear when you first turn the key when starting.

This weekend I told my wife to listen for "the hum" then turn the key to start after the humming stopped. Her sled didn't hum... Hmmmm.

I made some humming noises of my own as I searched for an allen wrench to remove the RH side cover while my wife asked if I need to give the sled a hummer to make it work. I went into husband mode and completely ignored her as I went to diagnose her sled. I could hear the relay clicking but no hum. I got some wrenches and opened up the sled a little further, humming all the while, pulled the clicking relay and replaced it with the identical looking relay right next to it and the fuel injectors hummed once again. The sled started right up but the headlight was out so I knew what relay I had borrowed. Not having a better place to store what I thought was a bad relay I plugged it into the headlight spot and it worked just fine. The sled behaved for the rest of the day and the day after that so I can only hope it was a fluke.

Sorry for the long winded response to your question.

I had the same exact problem the other day. It was a cold day and I had the sled going for awile. I shut if off and when I went to restart it I could hear the relay clicking but without the humming. I let it sit for awhile and tried again and it started right up. It has never happened again but I wonder if a person shouldn't be carrying a spare relay to be on the safe side. Topper

I hate digging up old topics but this is very useful for new phazer owners

I had to pull my phazer over yesterday with a rope from an XP tool kit :( after the relay seemed to freeze up after running hard and then shutting off out in the cold.
