well sled is back in my garage after a trip to the mechanics, nothing major just an oil change i didn't have time to do myself.... anyways he noticed something that i didn't a week ago. last weekend was the annual denholm snowmobile clubs poker run, was a fun trip more or less but because some of the riders in my group got mouthy and after one or two drinks at the bar before the rally i got more then brave and pushed this little rig way beyond what i would normally do, needless to say I was a few miles ahead of the pack and i took a nasty spill off the top of a hill launched my sled and got bucked off.... I landed okay and didn't get hurt but apparently the sled took some trail rash.
there must have been something under the snow where the sled had landed cause the belly plate has a huge gash and a tear right down the whole left side of it. didn't find anything else other then my track tension being abnormally loose, tightened that up and seams fine now. but hey at least i have an excuse to scratch a line off the old want list and buy a new belly plate.

SO! i'd like to hear what people have to say about the yamaha ULTRA plate, the SKINS float plate and weather or not it would be worth picking up a belly plate off of a mountain lite. thoughts? questions? ideas? criticisms? tell me I'm a doorknob for drinking an riding? might be true enough but hey it was only a couple to get me loosened up.

I like the skinz plate.Little more coverage(floatation) and has held up well.

I found out from experience yesterday that the Skinz plate works.

Hit a fence, then went out and got stuck. The front end floated while the back sank.

And yeah the Phazer was unscathed after hitting the top of the fence...thank-you Skinz!

I like my skinz also has taken the top off many trees and no marks to be seen well worth the money in my opinion

That's some funny stuff, if you live in Wisconsin! Think about that for a minute.........

definitely would go with the skinz plate the yamaha plate packs ice in the transition from small to large and its bad like 4 inches of ice around the sway bar.. having had both plates on my sled yamaha first causing me to want the skinz plate. I have to say i LOVE the skinz plate..

all i will add is that the shiny metal under there is very vulnerable to getting broke and once it does it can leak out your chaincase fluid which will takeout your secondary gear ,

let's just say you better have insurance lol and throttles and bottles don't mix. just saying

i rode 20kms yesterday just to check it out, my mechanic had a spare belly pan i could borrow till skins plate came in. so far so good, back end feels a bit loose but i'm not dropping any chain oil, thank god for that.... and ya i knew at leasst one person would comment about the booze, thank you for that one.

you seen how quick it affected your judgement right? i have been around the block a time or two hahaha learning the hard way gets exspensive.

True that Bro! ;)!

got back from ride today, barely. just a quick one to cochin and back (about 40kms round trip) sled felt good but on the way home from where i drop my sled my drivers side wheel bearing decided to take a poop! got the truck home safe, thank god canadian tire was open and had two bearings left today or i'd be screwed!

One more drink and you would've cleared that garbage that ruined your belly pan!

I remember way back in the 80s when a guy around Green Bay Wi was river riding, pissed up, after bars, wfo, and went straight when there was a corner, well, you know how ice heaves on river banks! It was like a super cross jump, that guy hit it, and NO LIE, landed it on some peoples roof of there house! True story! It was in the paper, the firefighter was up on the roof!
It was a 600 Indy, (back in the day) and the joke was, "If he had a 650, he would've cleared it!"
Holy crap! How would you like to have that story under your belt? Must've been a helluva ride!

Almost the same thing happened to a guy my wife went to school with. After bar (camp/ resort 1/2 hr out of town) closed, he crossed a lake, missed the trail head, ran up the shore right into a tree. Dead on impact.
