I'm looking for an QC-1 exhaust system. On The speed shop site they say 2 hp gain. Is fact that the exaust wasn't x crossing like the stock lower the torque of the sled ?

thanks

From what I was told yes. They didn't copy the stocker to keep costs down.

tundra - It is an "H" design, but torque did not go down at all. I have the QC1, and the GP1 from White Knuckle Performance. You will be glad you purchased one, no doubt about it.

Hey Tundra....that's an Internet myth.. :drink: the "X" vs. TROQUE thing has been thrown around here since day 1 but no one has ever been able to prove that the absence or presence of that "X" has any relation to torque...Now, if there really is solid proof out there that this is indeed the case I would love to see it... ;)!

My opinion is this.... the absence or less restrictive airflow of the exhaust only adds to the power of this machine as demonstrated via ECP's filter kit...SUCK IN.....BLOW OUT.....isn't that the formula for sucess??

Wonder, find the original article on the development of the RX-1 in supertrax from a few years back. The engineers they interviewed talked in depth about the exaust development and the different configurations they tried. They said hands down the highest torque numbers were obtained when they implemented an X style crossover. If you want, I'll find the article. I have the magazine somewhere around here.

Yes I saw the article you guys are speaking of however, I have never heard of anyone who noticed a difference or measured it if there was one. that's a good article there TUNDRA...interesting...I learned something new.

My point is this...if there is a torque difference on our RX1's would you even know on these machines? Not sure if you would or not. so you lose a lbs/ft torques....the sound and light weight is what I am after so it'll probably even out.

The exhausts are droppin 10-13 LBs of weight off the machines....and the sound is sweeeet...

I dought you would feel a difference because of the varying conditions we ride in. I'm sure both are nice systems with both having advantages over the other. Some like how the WK tips point upward allowing moisture to drip back in the can. Others like myself prefer the angled down appearance of the Bender which makes it look stock. Different strokes for different folks. Hey Wonder, Does the stock heat shield attach to the WK like it does with the bender?

Dan...I don't yet have the exhaust. I asked WK and everything is there as far as heat protection is concerned.

I too was curious about the misconception of the torque being lower with the H design versus the X design so I did a little research of my own. :exc: Okay, I sent Whiteknuckle an email...so much for my investigative skills. :drink: Anyway, Arne re-assured me that no torque was lost. The only RPM that the torque is the same as stock is at 8500 RPM. Otherwise, the torque curve runs above the stock; varying 1 ~ 4 ft/lbs in torque but never dipping below the stock numbers.
