I'am studding my 121" track and wondering if i should stud just the center of the track or the outside too?any info would help thanks.Dave

your call, really.... I've found that the outside of the track is weaker and tends to see a higher % of pull throughs....The theory is that it's also a little more difficult to turn your sled through a corner if the outside is studded... Many on this site will tell you both are 'bunk' and that they have i) never had a pull through and ii) don't find it harder to get through a corner... Personally, I say just stud the middle..

I have had sleds studded both ways and I would recommend studding down the middle. A sled with the outside studded does push a little harder into the corners but that is not as significant as having outside studs pull through. The last 2 sleds I have had studded down the middle I have not pulled through one stud. When I was studding the entire track I would replace a track (or sled) every other year. The outside studs pull through alot easier mainly because of the tipping side to side that sleds do. One stud ends up grabbing when you hit it and that stud pulls right through the track. Its totally up to you but I recommend studding just the middle.

I stud down the middle now as well.If your looking to gain the all out most traction then stud the outer belts as well, but for me the extra wear and tear it wasnt worth it for me.

Make shure you have as many scratch lines as possible, you dont want the scratch lines lining up,stagger them around so they always have to chew up fresh ice.My 144 pattern (uses outer belts)has 96 scratch lines. Its hard to beat the woody,s gold diggers for wear.

I agree. I have studded both ways and I now OMLY stud down the middle. No tears like when I studded on the outside.
