Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I have to ask. I recently finished changing the track, putting on extroverts and changing to a 19t top gear. When i got it all together I was turning everything by hand to make sure it spun freely. It was then I noticed that when you spin the jackshaft(brake rotor) back and forth 1/2"-1" there is play in it back and forth before it actually spins the track. I took it all apart and it almost looks like it is supposed to be this way because of the reverse gear and what not, but I never noticed this before. It is not play in the rotor it's definately in the chaincase. Is this normal?
This is a '08 standard FX nytro with reverse.

Normal, and you're right, it's because of the reverse. When you say the brake rotor moves, the secondary moves with it right? (just making sure we're clear)

Pretty freaky, huh?!? It's sounds like all is good! Keep us updated on how she runs.

Kind of annoying, When my sled is on the trailer with the parking brake locked, it will roll forward & backward at every stop and start because of the play in the chain case.

Good trailers with torflex axles like our wells cargo do not need the sleds to be tied down. We transport 5 machines in side the trailer all winter hundreds of miles with no problems.

It's not the normal trailering that would worry me. My 24 ft with tripple axles seems to smooth everything out pretty well. I still tie everything down just incase I have to pull an agressive move. To me it would suck to save the truck and trailer from an acident only to open it up and find everything bunched up in the front or side. I'm sure it would take more than one would think to cause damage, I just figure it's a little extra insurance. To each there own.

If we open up that back door and all of our sh!t rolls out, we're gonna have a long talk!!

I clamp it down in front & tie strap in back & it still moves back & forth. Can't be good on the hold down bolt in front, constantly bending forward and back. Never had a sled move around so much. It's not going to go far, tie strap will stop it from coming off, but kinda disconcerting to come to a stop & see your sled (in the mirror) keep coming for an instance. This is a floe trailer with the full length channel for your hold down, the piece that jams in the channel can pivot (somewhat), so that probably contributes to the movement.

Yeah, it's gotta be the flexing of the tiedown. I don't think I've ever had that happen. Agree, seeing your sled gaining on you in your mirror would freak me out. Have you considered getting different tiedowns/system. I use the Super Clamps and have to say, they are very nice, easy to adjust for different sleds, and the customer service is top notch. I broke a handle off one of mine when I accidently closed the door on it.
