Question about torsion springs

I'm taking my Viper to Accelerated Technologies to have the rear shock revalved and he suggested the Big Boy torsion springs. I am 265 dry weight no gear on. He said the spring holds the ride height and stock I have to much sag putting the shock into a compressed position.
From what I've read on this forum the stock springs are being swapped out for lighter springs. Accelerated has lots of experience with the Viper and the skid frame but I still question this move.
This recommendation was made over the phone without seeing me on the sled but as I said he has lots of experience with the Viper.
What are your thoughts?

There is a point where sag is too much. Most guys can only get a inch or two so lighter springs are needed. If you have 5-6 inches of sag with springs in softest position then either shock is blown out totally,springs are defective or something is wrong with suspension. Alot depends on how you ride also. Some sit all the way back on seat. That increases sag. I get what the guy is saying about spring holding hieght but shock does add to it alot more than is normal on this sled. I find it hard to believe your stock springs arent enough. How about a pic with you sitting on sled and one off. Sit where you ride most.

I would suggest holding off on changing the springs until you've ridden it with the new shock calibration. I Had my LTX SE skid shocks re-valved and then rode the sled a few hundred miles. I weigh 225 without gear and found that I absolutely needed to change to a lighter torsion spring. You being 265 should be fine with stock springs but I would imagine it will also depend on how he re-valves the shocks.
