I have an 07 RTX with an unstudded Ripsaw. This sled is not ment for a 121 without studs. It provides very little traction. I'm thinking about buying a muffins works 136" kit and a cobra track. I ride a lot of tight twisty trails. Will I regret stretching my sled? Will the 136 provide a lot more traction?

Stud it 144 min down the middle and it will hook up good . And go through the twisties better . Hang on !

i have same sled as you. I stretched it to a 136 tracks usa kit, with cobra track. Hookup is night and day better. You wont believe the difference. I used to be afraid to race anything on a lake unless conditions were perfect, now im in it with any sled. I too ride mostly tight trails (northern wisconsin) and i would say i lost a little turning bite but nothing you cant get used too. I notice i use a little more engine braking into corners than before for fast rideing. One thing the cobra does affect a lot is side bite. You cant throw the back end around through corners like you could with the ripsaw. So if you like that, its one downfall , but it also keeps the sled really stable and straight when running corridor trails. So its a give and take kind of deal. I highly recommend the switch to a 136, as like you said this sled was never meant to be as a 121 incher. The whole sled feels much more stable with the longer back end. Good luck.

Go in between, stretched my apex to 128 with ice ripper track. Love it.
Used to run a 136" viper and on fast twisties it was a work out to say the least

Do you buy a 128" kit or just get your hands on some 128" rails/track?

I've ridden a 128" Apex. It did have more traction than mine and turned just as nice but I don't know if that was because it was a brand new track vs. more worn out ripjunk or if it was the extra length.

Replaced track at 14,000 km as it was finished and started pulling studs every week.

Bought some rail extensions from Tracks USA. With stretched skid also made more room so I was able to install extra wheels at rear of skid to save on lider wear

sled extension

I did the 121 to 136 extension using Muffin works stuff...Amazing difference in the ride of the sled..I bought a used 136X1.5 "skidoo" track off a summit...Hookup and traction in the pow is great...Ride over the chops is much better as well...Plus sled looks better with the tunnel extended...

Did you extend your tunnel any or leave it stock?
Not that I am close to needing a track, but when the time comes I was thinking/wondering about a 128" track/skid and wondering if it would be worth it to do?

Thanks for the info WK. ;)!

Left tunnel stock, it actually looks proper now. overall length remember is only 3.5 inches longer

Correct, just curious if it was worth it to you? I am not really looking for more traction/speed, just a better ride.

Thanks

Believe it was only $140 for extensions. Don't think the 128" track was any more money really than the 121.
Had shocks revalved as well.

For me it was worth it. Another upgrade for me

I have an 09 LTX that I swapped the Ripsaw out for a Cobra. I found just the opposite, the Cobra seems to have LESS side bite in the corners on my sled than the Ripsaw did. I wonder if your experience is related more to swapping out a 121 Ripsaw to a 136 Cobra (more track). Hookup with Cobra is great on hard pack and no comparison is MUCH better in deep snow.

Looks like the stock pro-active rails can't handle the extra length. I'm going to stay with 121 and put a Cobra or Predator on it.
