Hi,

I'm looking at a 2007 GT with RTX gears in it. What changes can I expect with this mod over stock GT gears?

Thanks,
Chris

More bottom end, longer belt life.

If the clutches are adjusted correctly for the new gearing, I doubt that it will affect top end much, if any at all.

If the clutching is NOT adjusted to compensate for the gearing, then you'll experienced excessive engine speed throughout the range, increased fuel consumption, and reduced top speed.

The rtx uses the same clutching. Your gonna pull more rpm,s at cruising speed but have better throttle response & backshift. In perfect conditions you might be down 2-3 mph on top.

Add weight to the primary to keep the RPMs down in sanity land while maintaining the benefits of lower gearing for bottom end and keeping up at the top end. This causes the clutch to shift more aggressively into a higher ratio once you are moving.

Thanks guys. You've been a great help.

On the trail I don't care about performace. I can keep up with the best with a smaller sled.

Important thing to me is not out of the hole because I don't care if I loose here, as long as by the end of the lake I'm ahead.

So I should go back to GT gearing.

Chris;
i would compromise & change top gear from a 22 to a 23. Your pretty well maxed out for adding more weight to the stock arms. Going to a 23 top will give you the best of both worlds & rpm,s will still be in the sweet spot.
