How can I tell if my race fuel is still good? It's been out in shed since spring , and nothing frozen,( no water) how long does this stuff last? It's in a plastic drum.
My best guess it's 1.5 years old.

Has the color of the fuel changed?
If it has it's degraded (reacted With oxygen) and could at best be mixed 50/50 With Premium. Had a drum of Sunoco (blue fuel) stored for 1.5-2 years, partly full, it turned brownish, sled would hardly start, had to blend in some fresh Premium in the gas tank.
OBS!!!! - When it degrades the octane is gone as well.
Good color and it's all good.

it needed to be stored in a metal drum, not plastic. i took all the race gas out of my sled and put it back in the metal drum at the end of the yr. race gas is good for 2 yrs after opening if stored in a metal container. it will start to lose it's octane after one month in a plastic container. there is a forumla for octane loss but i don't have it, sorry.

It's psychological..... it's you knowing how much more boost Your motor can take on that fumes..... and the adrenaline reward/rush you're in for cranking up the boost... LOL
