Raced a nytro today!!!updated 2/23/08

I raced siscakidds 08 Nytro today and he was not happy with the out come, I'm sure when he is done with the sled it will be a different story but for today my 05 rx1 was faster. The Nytro is still stock and the rx1 has clutch work done and k&n filters, The parts came from his warrior and for anyone who went up against it knows how fast the warrior was. I was very surprised at the outcome because the difference in weight, the sleds are 80lbs. different and I have a 100lbs. on him. He knew the rx1 was going to be strong but he was really trying to see how strong the nytro was and Like I said he was not happy.

Its expecting too much to beat an RX with a Nytro. Different classes and RX is in the faster one. He shouldn't be disappointed about being beaten, nor should you feel good about it... it is as should be expected. If he DID beat you, then that would suggest that something is WRONG with yours.

No chance his Nytro is completely broke in as yet. Try him again with at least a 1,000 mi. on the ticker and see what happens.......given the weight differences you mentioned.

lazybastard, I didn't expect to win, I thought for sure the nytro would be faster and I'm sure when he break it in and does some work to it that his nytro will be faster. I'm new to all this but doesn't the nytro make more horsepower, and it is lighter so he should be faster.

newrx1guy, I'm not sure about the whole setup at this time, we did swap parts out of siscakidds warrior. I will get the info from him and post what has been done.

The RX still makes more power...and for all intents and purposes the 05 RX is the greatest sled EVER made...just so ya know .

Doktorc, I'm new to all this how does an rx1 make more power? when it came out wasn't it in the 120hp range? This is my first 4-stroke and I was never in to performance. I'm learning every day about this sled. I've only had the sled for a year so I know I have alot to learn. thats why I joined this site because of all the help you get.

The Vector (RS) has 120hp the RX has 140ish...a couple more with the filters.

Thank you did not know that. I learned something new to day. Plus we put the hotter plugs in today, so thats a few more horsepower? The only reason I posted was siscakidd was very surprise. I'm sure he as already started ordering parts to make the nytro go. Ullmer clutch kit, excell exhaust, different top gear.

Even tho the hp & torque is close the rx-1 is geared 24/38 vs 21/39 & also runs at 10,200 rpm vs 8800 rpm. those 2 factors alone give it an edge on top speed.

Isn't the weight thing a little overated in a trail race anyway? I thought I read once that every 10lbs is worth like 2 hp or something, that would 16hp difference and like Turk said the gearing and revs of the RX will kill it.

kinger, go back and read the original post.......in addition to the weight of the sled the rider is 100 lb. heavier too.......that'd make it 180 lb. difference or 36 hp using your numbers......since the Nytro from the factory is 138 (according to the Yamaha "techie" at last springs' demo ride here) and the rx-1 with filter kit is 145-ish..........well.............

I don't think there's any arguing going on..RXkid is just learning about his sled's performance. Besides...bench racing is half the fun of snowmobiling...it passes the time between rides lol.

don.t get to exited there rx kid we only raced 300 ft ,and i had my transfer set all the way forward ,and was still getting ready to pull ahead of you another 200ft and your looking at my flap come back tomorrow and i will put some tranfer in and well see ,buy the way was not suprised at all thats why i wanted to race with the transfer set for trail riding ,to see if that would work at all for the occasional drag race with out setting the transfer to max
