imo the cat motor dont have enough holes (cylanders) to be running that much power even with a turbo it just dont seem possible or durable by anymeans, but it is putting pressure on yamaha to mabe come out with a production turbo, but think about this cat is going to these kinda lengths to beat what yamaha has has ON THE SNOW for four years with the apex/attak and 2 or 3 years on the rx1 to me kind of a hail mary... imo

Exactly......the power of turbo charging is awesome no doubt, but as we know, even the Yamaha loses that sweet sound being that turbos require an exhaust system change. Super chargers don't...... there are pros and cons to both systems I guess.

it will be supercharged from doo and weight will be around 575 and hp 200 out of the boxnumber1kyster said:The Z1 Turbo doesn't scare me that much, however if Doo comes out with a 1200 turbo 4 stroke, we will all be getting smoked!

seen an attak and apex, with minor mods a few week ends ago race one. ski-doo 1200 is quick out of the hole but after that, not that impressive. be a few years before anyone, or if anyone matches the yamaha motor.

yamaha dont need a turbo to make hp,they can probably push 200hp without turbo from factory, then if you want more sizzle you do it yourself

At the demo rides back in late April AC had the F1000 and Z1 Turbo on display. Both sleds were broken in as they started the roadshow down south and moved north as snow was leaving down south.
Well testing had to be done after the bold statements coming from the local Cat dealer that the Z1 was the one to beat for next year.
They lined up the F1000, Z1 turbo and my friends '08 Apex LTX. In a 1/4 mile run the F1000 won followed by the Apex LTX and with the Z1 turbo behind. F1000 also had the highest top speed as he was pulling away in front, also the Apex LTX was pulling away from the Z1 turbo.
No need to say the Cat dealer was puzzled about the outcome.... and the explanetions to the Z1 turbo beeing the slowest 1000 cc sled were many LOL. Well we have to see what the production sleds can do. The dealer even managed to say that with a chip change the Z1 would even beat the turboed Yamaha's hahahaha he's full of it LOL
It's nice to finally have turboed brandX competition to race against

F1000 on the stickers and the new chassis, gotta be the '09 F1000 proto we saw. Anyway it ran pretty good in the conditions that day. Wet snow on a warm weather day.

ya, all that was, was a product of the cobra track which are standard on the F1000, since 08. If the LTX would have had that, the outcome would have been different.rxrider said:F1000 on the stickers and the new chassis, gotta be the '09 F1000 proto we saw. Matt, according to DTR, the XRF is still only 166hp in stock forum. Add the y-pipe and you are at 177. A good setup Apex will still beat one in the right condition and traction... My friend who has a Piped and y-piped F1000 beat his buddies new XFR1000 in stock forum with the same traction, 171 studs... I can run with the F1000.... I'm not saying you can't make one run, but it needs work also...

I agree, have you heard a Z1 yet? How about one with a can? Geez, they sound like a bathroom stall the morning after a draft beer binge and a bad burrito...

Where would they put it? Ppffss. I know what we have to do to install aftermarket turbos and I don't see Yamaha ever doing that...

FYI I just tought I'd add this little discusion I had with a buddy of mine which rides a '09 CROSSFIRE "R" 1000 all I can say is we better have our YAMY'S fine tuned, he's bone stock except his track "COBRA" studded he's running on radar 119mph!!! WOW and pulls like a freight train! he's also a hefty fellow 250lbs, compared to his '08 F1000 he traded its day and night I guess CAT did their homework on this 1, I'm going to ride with him in a couple of weeks it'll be interesting to see...

It's only fair that you add a Cobra track to match his traction... A cobra is min 4 sled lengths faster than the ripsaw on snow conditions and accelerate harder... He obviously ran 119 on ice or on a ice/snow road...

Well following some threads on HCS closely about this sled.
Numbers are all over the board, but when someone posts GPS numbers. I cant see how anyone with an Apex wouuld be worried. They are reporting 110 MPH, some not even hitting the 100 mark. But Im sure conditions have alot with that.
One post was a Cat tech and with all the tweaking they could do on it for a day could only get 110 GPS.
Also sounds like they are eating belts. I suspect if this is the case they have some clutch issues which is robbing the HP, ,because now claims of 182 are floating around.
I hope there is one on the lake this weekend.....I have never seen one in person.

Yes, Apparently the some bushing missing in the secondary, which has to lead them to having slow top speeds and spitting belts. I believe it's the real deal with the hyjacker. 210hp on pump gas is pretty good.. But that sled is the ugliest sled I have ever looked at. Not cool at all....
