Rtxkid, I'm not trying to bash on you, just explaining the different race circuits. CSRA is the Canadian National sno-x series. I'm not very familiar with it and I don't know how many ISOC racers from the USA compete? The ISOC is the premier series and this is where the OEM's spend a ton of money and want to do well. Nothing wrong with CSRA but it's similar to the way Blair Morgan would kick butt in Canada in MX but get mid pack finishes against the better, faster MX riders in the USA.
Looks like Ian is doing just fine in CSRA and was 25th in points in pro open in ISOC. Robbie was 6th in points.

If Yamaha does decide to seriously race SX with the Viper or any 4st they need to find a big guy. 6ft at least and built like a football player. I am serious about this not kidding.

Like I said I'm not saying it was a perfect sled and a dominant force every time it hit the track. I'm saying it had more success than people give it credit for. In saying that I implied that this motor in the cat chassis should make it even more competitive. It took untill a year or so ago before they figured out a front sus for the nytro that made it as competitive as it was. They finally have a chassis with motor between feet N centralized in the chassis between skis an track. It should be a decent season because of all that. I'm hoping it brings recognition to the 4st engines but not tarnish Yamaha to much as people will probably look down at the results because it's a cat chassis

is there still a rule of no gear reduction for four strokes ?

if not offered as a race sled by the manufacturer then no.

Except in the Pro Open classes. They can run all kinds of non stock, innovative things. Bender was running an IQR with the gas tank under the motor last season. The Nytro's were allowed to run the XC race kits (improved front ends) and in the past they were running Polaris IQR rear suspensions in their sno-x sleds.

Om quite sure Hayden got a third place, before going to csra, but its tough åt the top, malinoski, didnt finish much higher in his first year with ski-doo (open), but maybe ge was sore after riding the nytro?anyway Good to see yamaha back i think its a better chassie, yes its Cat, but in open there is lots of smallthings that needs to click, but they sure had the power.

open is just that, open mods. all depends on the race series. uscc east stock =stock (no race front ends), core stock = race front end allowed, isr stock = as made by the oem (eg race chassis is "stock")

I think ak was meaning that yamaha didn't use the race sled from cat so yamaha isn't qualified to use it to race with. Unless they used some the parts in the viper from race sled that cat doesn't use on normal production sleds

that tunnel they have mounted is not the standard procross chassis, you can tell by the toe gussets and where the tunnel sweeps up.

Maloniski Won at the Brainerd Nationals in MN Usa.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52uMs-Lpuck. Only raced one year but he won one. Steve Taylor took 4th at the XGames when he rode for Yamaha for a year or two. They are always tin and out of snocross and never stick with it. If Tucker would race the 7000 he would win with it. See my sled I loved his snocross sled so much I painted mine to look like it and then they went to the black panels in 09. Now they have blue panels after all these years. Good luck to the Yamaha Racers Hope the Vipers work out.
