I have the skid plate. It has elevated areas for more protection. I was able to cut my stock plastic for oil changes. Just remove skid plate, drain, reinstall and ride.no mess plenty of protection.

RE: GUARDS
When I got my Viper I noticed that both the rotor and chaincase extended below the belly pan and that prompted me to look into better/stronger protection than the plastic covers for these critical components… not to mention the fact that these are both "ruin your day" and "drain your wallet" issues when damaged.
Also on my first few ride a couple of times I actually felt the area under my foot make contact with ??? And this would not happen with both sides simultaneous, nor would it be while landing a jump. It happened on a climb or tight trail when you had the machine leaned favoring on side or the other.
Looking into this a little further I came to find that smashing a chaincase was not uncommon on the AC procross chassis; can't remember where I heard it, nonetheless, my Racewerx guard have some decent scrapes on them from the balance of my first season on the Viper; they earned their keep. IMO I'd go for the metal over the plastic. I plan to add the Racewerx skid plate this season; they were not completed last year. The skid when combined with the bumper provide complete underside protection back to the tunnel.

Where did you get the racewerx skid plate, and if you don't mind me asking how much was it? Looks pretty decent but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Thanks

Wrapped my ski around mine and bent it yesterday. The aluminum is light and protects against most but not all. Bent it back.
