IMO, that may be a bit steep since dealers with hold-overs are selling them for 6500-6800. Got to start somewhere so it might as well be on the high side but for a faster sale you might want to be in that 5500-6000 range...just MO.

Yeh, add taxes and all the extras and your up to 7500-7800 for a new one. Also, not aware of many left overs around here. I think he might want the Apex and hoping he don't go back to the gas guzzling, oil suckin Polaris crap!!

Probably worth it, but seems a little high for a quick, private sale to me too. I've seen used '05's at dealers for $5,900. Saw a new blue '05 Vector hold over for 6,300 out the door too.

Yeah, it's hard trying to get your money back out of the mods. A lot of folks would rather buy bone stock when buying used also. Many times modded up sleds can give the impression of harder use, whether it is actually true or not.
If someone wants to offer 6500-7000 for mine, I'll be riding a new Apex GT.

Here's what I am thinking. Just got my new Attack a few weeks ago and here's what I bought since. Skid plate, saddlebags, windsheild bag, shock covers, nose cone bag. New Skiis or good carbides will be next. Most people are going to buy these things anyway, just look at the message boards. I'm not talking mods, I'm saying extras. I just sold my 2003' RX1 to the first guy out for 4,800.00 with extras. He could have bought a stocker for 4,500.00 with 1/3 the miles. He liked the extras and would have probably had to spend another 1,000.00 to buy himself.

I paid $6200 for a similar sled with fewer miles last January.

i agree with u on this one-i've done nothing to engine, but have thrown an exhaust, clutch kit and soon to be nos-but wont be sellin nos kit with sled when i sell sled. i have done everything that yamaha has done on the nytro, raised bars-new styling, lower windshield. i will probably keep my c&a's off my sled, and throw the stock skis on there, but otherwise everything else should go with it. i guess i havent done many mods-just extras

Ouch. I think that's high too. I paid less than that out-the-door for my '05 a year ago. My dealer has an '05 leftover for 6,300 OTD.

Here's what I think drives prices down. Dealers order too many and sell them for below cost. There's a handful of people that got a steal-so should that drive the whole market down. No!!! What I am saying is-just because someone out in New york got great deal, should everyone in MN or WI expect to not pay market value. Those good deals aren't around forever. Usually only when a dealer is in a distressed situation. Those who want to sell used sleds shouldn't have to pay for there mistakes. We have looked in the paper and the Trader and found none for sale around here yet.

Stormchaser,
The area/market has a lot to do with it. I did buy mine from near Minneapolis. I think what is being offered is just an idea of what market value is. It's an internet forum, you'll get a lot of info from around the country. If you think you know the value, post it for sale, put it out there, see how it goes.
And FWIW, those NY prices aren't under dealer cost.
Also dependig on the buyer, "extras" might not be viewed as a good thing. And the sled is approaching the end of it's warranty, no?

I'm guessing he will keep it if he don't get close to the 6,500.00. I think he said he's got close to 7,800.00 or so into it with extra warranty. He will be putting it in the Trader soon I think. I will be posting it on here when he decides for sure. Everybody said the same about my 03' RX1, sold to first guy out for 4,800.00(Asking Price). I still have it in the Trader to see how many calls I get, and what part of the season I get most of the calls.

From what I've seen, small dealers can't afford to sell them lower than anyone else. My dealer is pretty big, and they give you a no haggling price right over the phone that nobody else in my area seems to be able to match, no matter what part of the season it is. Anyone who calls gets the same deal. While I feel sorry for the smaller dealer, I can't disagree with my dealer's tactics. They make profits from high volume sales, not high profit margin. Kinda like what draws people to WalMart instead of staying faithful to their neighborhood supermarket. Nelson's was drawing so much attention that another area dealer paid an arsonist to burn their facility down to the ground a few years back to try to get rid of them. Just caused them to come back bigger than ever. Good service too.
Sorry, I've gotten off the subject. Didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. You're right, maybe I live in the wrong area to consider paying retail. If you buy low, you can afford to sell your used sled low for a very quick sale. It's great to know you could turn around and buy another new one for a great price.
