I have to replace the end cap for the top of the rail and drill/extract the screw for the hyfax, that broke and caused the hyfax to spit out the back.
Was wondering if anyone has taken off one rail for any kind of maintenance and if so would it be worth doing for this job or just suck it up and do it through the track? Which would be the bigger pain?

Thanks for any advice.

track work

I would take the skid out and get it in a position to fix it right.Plus you can grease the wheels and the skid check all the bearings ect. JUST MY
TWO CENTS WORTH.

Same thing happened to me several weeks ago with the broken screw holding the hyfax on. The screw broke and spun the hyfax around the rear axle. I was able to drill the broken screw and tap some new threads without removing the skid with no problem. Getting the hyfax back around the axle and back into position was another story. Was able to get the hyfax back in position without removing skid, but was no fun.

I will be removing the skid this summer to relace the rail that was worn while riding with the hyfax wrapped around the rear axle.

If you are only replacing the hyfax, it is an easy job just going through a window in the track. I have never replaced a rail, but I would think it would be easier to remove the skid. Good time to check everything else.

Thanks for the tips. I guess I'll try to fix it in place.
I did get a little luckier than you T-Bone, my hyfax either came out a window or the side, either way it's lost on the river somewhere.
