Why try to re-install the rail tips when adding an anti-stab kit

If the rail tip sticks out further than the wheels on the kit, isn't that defeating the purpose of it?
To prevent track stab, i would imagine that you need the track 'wave' to hit the wheels and bounce off.
If you have a rail tip sticking further forward than the wheels, then isn't it just going to hit the rail tip anyways and stab.- albeit maybe not stab as deep, but still.

So then why have the the rail tips on at all if u have antistab.
the Whal instructions snow no railtips.

cuz.....sounds like a good reason to me :)

kidding obviously

some of us dont cut the tips off...and decided to drill out fronts so that the tips were not an issue...

Mt Dream,
that picture is exactly what im talking about.
See how your rails stick out past the wheels. It seems that there is the possibility that the track can grab the tips of the rails before the wheels do their job.
I would presume that you havn't had issues with this setup yet tho, so it must not be such a big issue.

The track cannot wrap, thereby getting a stab...

It is pretty shocking how much the track gets bound around the rails, and what the wheels do is essentially make a bridge or constant so there is not a point to poke through...in my case, the rail tips would pop-off before it stabbed...

At least that is the thought I am going with, Scott or someone else will give a more technical answer...

I agree with mtdream. In fact, he's the one that chimed in on a thread that I made earlier this year asking the same thing. Just drill out the rail tips along with the plastic caps to 3/4" and the anti stab fits in there like a glove. Literally took 1 minute. Just make sure you drill straight. My anti stab actually has wheels on the outside as well. If you need a pic, let me know, my skid is currently out of my sled.

I've done this on my RX-1 suspension aswell and I think that the wheels actually sit lower than the rails so it keeps the track from coming close to the tips.

That seems like the nicest way to do it. Thanks for the replies on the
:dead:
I did run a search, but I find that I can't ever find the right thread

:letsnow:

Before installing the anti stab kit, my plastic rail caps were all chewed up. I installed the kit late last season and only put one ride on it. I just installed new rail caps last week since my skid was out. So I will be curious to see my rail caps after a few rides this season.

I did mine the same way as mtdream last year.No problems.I stabbed a track a few years ago and its not fun.

Mine are the same way as mtndream, but I went with the 4 wheel. Another thing to remember, track tension and length of limiter straps. To much or to little will have negative effects..

What anti stab kits are you guys buying and from where?

I'm kind of nervous about this now that I have to cut down my rails for the extrovert drivers.

I've ran a few different ones and don't really remember what brands they are.

Don't be nervous about it just run a anti stab and forget about it ;)!
I have stabbed a couple tracks, it sucks. Here is some pictures of a un common track stabbing. I couldn't figure out what happened, I over jumped a road but it was not that hard of a landing, it folded up my rails like nothing.

It wasn't until a few weeks later that I found out what actually happened. Mr. Moto told me he had seen a couple stabbings that folded up the rails like this. That in combination with missing a rail cap and some track clips, it finally made sense.

Cheap insurance to run one

RL, that is what I am worried about, not buying a kit. Just hoping to see what brands people have and what works so I can order one.
