Last night I ripped the hole suspension out of my 03' RX-1 Mt, and ripped all the heat shields out. reason you say? Because those damn heat shields were driving me insane!!!!! There was a total of three and one wasnt even welded just vibrating! I thought they were useless, just a idea for anyone who had this problem too!!!

An idea for anyone who wants to keep them...
Remove by drilling out the rivets, blob of hot red silicon between bracket and heat shield, then new rivets. Also a line of silicon on the top of each heat shield. Totally cured. The silicon absorbs the vibrations.

Didn't Yamy remove them altogether for 05?
It would seem the stainless exhaust of the older RX1's should be adequate with out covers as well.

Yes, I think they did. I bolted mine in place with lock washers. I should probably take them off too to save a pound or so.
