I pulled my RX1 out last night and it was 21.5 lbs! Wow I love the sound but was thinking the weight was around 10lbs. This is JUST the muffler and pipes that are welded to it. Y pipes and flex were not included in the total weight.
Is the apex the same weight? I thought they got lighter then the RX?

I just shipped one... It was 26lbs with the side covers, tail light cover with all the hardware and bolts. The heat shield was not part of it... So, I would say at least 22lbs....

Noticed the significant muffler weight on my Apex too when I had it apart to replace donuts and Y-pipes this year. Which made me wonder, if the reason Yam put titanium Y-pipes in the Apex was primarily for weight reduction, you'd think they could have gained more weight savings by making changes to the muffler? I replaced both my cracked ti y-pipes with SS ones, and the weight difference seems maybe one or two pounds at the most. For the persistent durability/warranty issues with the ti y-pipes, Yam should have looked elsewhere for the weight reduction and switched to SS Y's long ago, IMHO.

i agree, i wonder if the heavy weight of the muffler is causing the flexing that wears out the y pipes, just a thought
