I have 5000 Kms on mine ,it's stock. Fastest top speed 102 mph. You need to let these sleds break in.

I usually cant see my speedometer because there is snow flying everywhere and I need to keep my eyes forced where I am going. How do you guys find time to look at your speedo? haha

I was one of the biggest critic of the XTX I bought last year. I had more problems than anyone on here and have added a turbo and made all kinds of suspension and shock changes but I will say that my XTX is now the fastest and the best handling trail sled I have ever owned (I've owned several monsters). I know I can get on it and go 400 miles in one day no problem. When I ride with buddies they all beg to ride it. I had several Apex's that would read 117 on the speedometer and were only doing 102 on gps and they were mid 150 hp vs the 130 of the viper. When I bought new sleds I would have to change everything to make them run over 105 and comfortable enough to ride more than 100 miles in a day.
I think that Yamaha was limited in what they could do with these sleds due to the "joint" effort between them and CAT. I truly believe that CAT would not allow the sled they built for Yamaha be better and faster than their version the 7000. I have friends with 7000's and even one on the 8000 sno pro which will not do 100 on the trail or 80 on a lake and it makes 40 more hp than the viper or 7000.

Oh yeah in closing tonight I sold my brand new Polaris Pro S 800 switchback for $3,500 less than I paid for it because I never want to ride it and am looking for another XTX to now be my backup sled and to build into a 20#'s of boost ice/grass drag sled.

My Vipers have 1500 and 2300 K on them. So the one with 2300 especially should be broke in and that means Engine, Clutch and track everything should be broke in by now.
You throw any very able at it and it changes, change temperature, change trail condition, even go from cloudy to the sun comes out and it changes. I don't understand it.
My Nytro was consistent from o to minus 30 and if it wasn't, the change was so incremental I couldn't notice it.
These things are not consistent from 1 o'clock to 1:30.
Don't get me wrong I love the ride, the handling, the seating position, everything but engine inconsistency.
YUP!!!
Exactly how i feel!!!
Yamadog you got a money tree growing behind your house?? HAHAHA!!!! You certainly lead the way in the saying Boys and their toys!!! Glad you got that monster how you wanted!!! I will say in the trail this sled is pretty damn awesome. My buddy has 800 doo that smokes my #*$&@ in fields but trail wise You just cant beat the torque of the viper.

So far during break in I've seen 93mph on the speedo on a flat lake run with packed snow. That was not top speed. I did not want to stay on it since it was in the break in miles and I was actually on it longer than I wanted to be and looked down and saw the 93. It was still going quite strong. I'm not sure how much was left but it was not at the end of acceleration. I'm very happy with the power of this sled. Not as happy with the handling on trails but getting that dialed in and the clutch is jumpy from a stop, but better with the suspension dialed in. Not sure if the clutch is breaking in or the suspension change has minimized the jumpy starts from a stop.

Slowest in the Twisties? Not true.....this is mostly all rider making it slow. My 14 XTX with stock skis, stock carbide and 141" track was the best combo for "my" riding. Now I have a 153" 2.25" paddle track with C&A Pro skis. This track is not made for going around tight corners and scary as hell on snow covered ice.......but there is a reason people call me "The Fading Light"
