If you take a good look at the design of the stock rear skid on RX1, you'll see that its a very well designed unit. You can make it handle ANY way you want it to as long as you do a few things; 1) get springs and shocks that suit your riding style and expectations, 2) adjust it correctly.

Its tough to adjust with the stock shocks. If you set the FRA to min, its very plush on the stutter bumps (and anything up to about 8 inch), but once you get onto the big bumps, it'll ride the bottom. If you set it to mid or max, it gets hard on the stutter bumps, but you can ride all day in moguls. There's nothing in between.
Ideally you need linear spring rate with FRA on min, but with a hard progressive shock. This will allow it to react deeply on slower stutter bumps, but hold back hard on hits.
You might want to look at the RX1 custom suspension kit at www.maxxperf.com for $859. It'll also give you better springs for the front.

Lets put it this way after doing a head to head with the M10 and the Expert X, I will only have a M10 Ohlins under my but unless Yamaha can make a skid that rides like that.....

I have done a ton of work with the stock shocks and dont get me wrong you can really get them to ride nice , very good ride. I am sure thats what Maxx Perf will give you. But the M10 is really awesome compared to them....I hope I helped
