I was on the receiving end of a backing accident last weekend. Looks like I will be replacing the rear bumpers on two 2009 Phazers. (RTX & GT) My wife was backing up her sled, when her mitten got stuck in the throttle. The sleds hit bumper to bumper. Before I start this project I thought I would see if anyone could provide me with any tips to changing out the bumper. I was also looking for some input as to where you order your parts. I found a site www.cyclepartswarehouse.com there bumper is about 50 bucks cheaper than other sites. Anyone used this site before.

Few bolts to remove and some rivits on the underside of tunnel that go into the rear grab bar. I also recommend using 1/4-20 bolts with nyloc nuts to put the snow flaps back on less rivets to drill back ot l8ter when it happens again!

yup standard rivet gun. just get rivets that don't have a steel mandrel or they will rust!

Instead of buying another crappy/flimsy OEM bumper why not replace it with something that will hold up a little better next time?
Here is a link with information on a couple of bumpers as well as which bumper I chose, pictures, and a link of where I found the cheapest price.

I know this is a little off topic since you were asking how to change the bumper but still thought you might be interested.

Hi Mcgnnty,
Just out of curiousity, I was wondering if you ended up sticking with the stock bumper or going with something else? And if you did go aftermarket, which bumper and how do you like it?
Thanks,

I haven’t really decided just yet. This will be more of a summer project. Spending my money, getting a couple of tracks studded. (Wife’s sled too) If was I was to buy today it would be stock, in a couple of months who knows.
