yes the mm flap is longer and wider. Works great

flap smap took mine off when it was stock because it kept getting caught underneath. Man that was bothersome. Now I run none and love it.

Running without the flap will cause overheating problems.The snow bounces off the flap and stays on the track then goes back to the front heat exchanger for cooling.This isn,t so much a problem in deep snow,but in low snow of about 4-5" it will overheat prematurely.

Running without a flap can also cause overheating problems with the people behind you. There is nothing like a face full of ice or snow Or a big chunk of ice in the chest to overheat someone.

Before you go buying flaps, burp the machine, and make sure the coolant is a proper mix, since lots of these sleds came from the factory with the wrong mix...100% antifreeze. Then consider the add on exchanger, which brings the temp down considerably, and finally put some water wetter or similar into the mix. Bet the whole matter goes away.

smokeless ... I agree with everything you said but I have 4500 kms on my sled and this is the first time it ever overheated .
The only thing different is my cut flap and the new M 10.
I am just thinking that because the m 10 makes it sit a bit higher and then I cut off an inch or two that that might be my problem .
Sorry hardcore , I would not run without , my friends would not like me and I have watched my sled from the side and (it used to ) the snow does hit the flap and go back on the track and then head up to the front.

Look at the Yamaha Motors site or a Yamaha catalog you will see they have 2 differen't snow flap lenghts, regular and Mountain. You can get differen't colors also.

Mine is stock, but I also got sick of it getting sucked into the track, so cut it off. Looks much better and really impressive while spinning at 80 mph. No heating problems at all. Here's what it looks like.

You guys need to remember that I do not ride it the deep powder . I am luckey if we have any snow let alone deep stuff . I only posted on the mountain section because I heard the mountain flaps were longer and I thought with the new suspension I might need it .
Treewacker , do you have abetter pic of your sled , I would love to see it , it looks great in that pic just a bit dark
