Hey guys...I wish it was as easy as going to the dealer and ordering a MONO-Skid rebuild kit. Unfortuantely...NOT.

I checked the MPI kit but I know there have been some bushing changes in the 2006 Arm which is what I have in my 2005.

Anyone know which bushings take the biggest beating and which ones I need? How many are there in the rear skid anyways?

Thanks.

Here's what I replaced.

90386-15001-00 BUSH - 4
90386-19001-00 BUSH - 4
90381-28108-00 BUSH, SOLID - 2
90387-10042-00 COLLAR - 2 -these are the front stub shafts from the apex..they're steel and much more durable.

While you have it out it's a good time to install grease fittings so you don't have to do this every year.

Awesome....thanks!

I don't mind taking the skid out every year. Gives me a good reason to look it over. I was going to install grease fittings but wasn't sure how much time and effort it would be to do it. Probably easier to remove the skid and check it once a year.

Just an FYI....all of these little tiny plastic parts total about $100 CDN. :crap: :ORC

Grease fittings might just be an option!

I had all bushings replaced at 1700 miles in mine under warranty and installed zerks after I got the sled from dealer now with allmost 6000 miles I just pulled the skid out to put different rail extensions on and have rear shock rebuilt, and not one bushing had any kind of wear to speak off.I do grease it quite often though(mobil 1 synthetic grease).Usually every ride or two unless im on a big trip.

Do you have to drop the skid and/or remove the track to remove the bolts to replace the bushings?

Drop the skid and pull it out. Very simple process with the Mono. No need to remove the track. ;)!

My dealer was more than happy to sell me the bushings for $80. plus dollars, the sled had 640 miles on it and they were spent. New grease fittings and so far so good. ;)!

Huge thanks to you guys, I got the skid out in about 45 minutes, no problem. The front and rear bolts made it easy to get at those bushings, but this next part will show that I may be the dumbest person in the world. When I try to take the bolts out that attach the aft portion of the suspension to the rails, the bolt on one side comes out, but the other just spins. Same-same top and bottom on this assembly. How do I get those gizzmos out to grease those bushings??? Also, the new bushings that I have for the W arm seem to be thinner (black) than the thick white ones that were in. I also have new collars that are much thicker, 90387-10042-00, so I guess they need thinner bushings, it just seems like they would wear more quickly. Thanks again for your help, Steve D.

If your talking about the top rear suspension bolts, one side spinning. The easiest way is to use a impact wrench but if you dont have one you need to install the one that you have allready got out back in and remove the other side and go back and forth untill you wear enough of the loctite off the threads so you can get both of them out.You could wire brush the bolt you allready have out to speed up the process.

Steve,
Thanks again. 2 more newbie questions. Do you get new nuts for the different suspension points with that little clip each time or just apply loctite? And it looks like they had used the red, superstrong loctite on the rear bolts, do you use that or the easier to break free blue stuff? Again, you've been a huge help!!!

i'm looking to replace all of my Mono skid's bushings this summer and i was just wondering if this was the complete list of bushings other have obtained. Or is there a kit like from Pioneer or Ulmer that would contain all of the right bushings for the Mono skid?

;)!

Pioneer sells a kit that has all the bushings for the mono skid and some say they are better than OEM. Also, for the bolt removal problem I read a post that had a good idea. Take one side out and get a longer bolt with the same thread. Put the longer bolt in with a jam nut so that you can lock it while you remove the opposite side.
