rear susp. upgrade for 07 Attak

Getting ready to do some upgrades to the Attak GT. Have gotten some mixed advice about rear susp. as far as doing both Fat Boy spring and shock revalve. A guy up here I trust alot says just do the revalved shock. Of course the dealer recommends both. I also got the 13mm bar up front and do the bushings while in there. Got some nice Yamaheaters too. I'm about 210 pds Winter wt. What's most cost effective, so I have some $ left for the Phazer II...
 
I ran it last year, with stock susp., set on stiffer side and only thing I noticed was some chatter in some stutter bumps. I was told when doing the rear shock, to shim the rear too. This was one I had never heard before. According to our buddy Scott, those rears get quite loose. I hope not as bad as the A-arms and bulkhead up front...
