my 2007 attak Gt is bottoming inthe front of the rear suspension. the rear has never bottomed since i stiffined the spring and damping. but I can't seem to stop the bottoming that occurs in the front of the rear suspension. If anyone has any ideas please help. It is the only issue I have with the " BEAST".

Suspension

I have an '07 Attak and the only time I notice anything with the rear suspension is when you crawl over a series of small sharp peaks in an ungroomed trail at slow speeds. I can hear a clunking and feel it in my feet.

Big rollers, mogles or trashy trails at speed are no issue.

My dealer has heard it before, checked with Yamaha and were told it is the nature of the Mono Shock skid.

Is yours the same issue?

Tim

The clunking that you hear going over those smaller bumps one after the other is just the limiter strap i'm pretty sure, it's doing it's job, it's not bottoming out.

The clucnking noise is the transfer rod all mono shocks do it.

Is the clunking sound an indication of an adjustment required? I noticed mine in the same exact conditions and I have bad darting. I know this has been discussed many times, and I think what I have out of it is the general overall suspension adjustment most of you pros are doing is;
1) Limiter strap shortened one from stock ( does that mean it's in the second hole from the top of the strap?)
2) No preload on the front shocks, making the A-arms almost parallel to the ground, and the rear dampening via the tunnel dial set to hard.

I'm 180 lbs without gear and I know i need new skis/carbides but I am going to make these adjustments today and ride tomorrow see what happens.

Thanks everyone I was a little concerned but everyone of my friends who have had a monoshock told me it was normal also. Thanks again. Oh, if anyone knows where to find great videos of yamahas PM me, thanks.
