Just put a deposit down on a new 2007 Attak...I'm 250lbs dressed how should I have the dealer set up my suspention....I run 90% gromed trail 5% bumps 5% off trail

Thanks

If the deal is that the sled is supposed to be set up for your weight, make sure the sit in/ride height/sag/whatever you want to call it, is at the top of the range for that sled - without maxing the adjustment out. Just me.... but that'll give some room for bags, snow and ice buildup, springs settling a little as they break in, etc.

Have them put the circlip in the second position. You can then put the cam adjuster where you want it yourself, but I would start with it in the 5th position. Later you can go up if you bottom to much. You will most likely end up going to heavier spring and getting shock revalved as I have.

That's kinda what I was thinking - but if the dealer has offered to set the sled up for him - then maybe they could pay the bill to do that?

why would ya need a heavier spring if you can just set it to clip 2 or 3....chart looks like the stock spring good to 300lbs......am I missing something

I have read that the spring will coil bind on the 3rd clip position. I haven't verified this but it sounds right. I ran last year with my clip in the #2 position and my cam adjuster on the #7 (last) step and still bottomed from time to time. I am a bit heavier than you (285 lbs in gear). The heavier spring allows you to work more in the center of the springs range instead of the end.
Also, when it bottomed the studs put scratches in the underside of the tunnel extension and broke out the aluminum cross piece behind the crossover tube.

With the heavier spring you will want a little stiffer damping to smooth it out.

That is my take on it anyhow. Still waiting for snow to see if the changes work out for me in the real world.

Hi guys. The rear sag on a mono apex is around 40 to 45mm at the spring. Can a measurement be taken at the mudflap so one doesn't have to crawl under the sled every time?

i bought my sled from a guy about 20 lbs lighter then me(im 220 not dressed up) and i see those scratches in the tunnel your talking about. i wonder where i have the suspenion out if i should put the heavier spring in?

The sag for the rear suspension has to be measured at the spring. Measure spring length with sled off ground then remeasure with rider on with riding gear. The difference is to be 40-50 mm. That includes both KYB and Ohlins units. You will need to get a buddy to help set. If you have a lift it helps. :4STroke: :yam:
