Hi, i have a 03 rx1 shorty with the proaction- it rides real rough. By the end of a day of riding my back is seriously hurting. It has 5k on it now so its getting near a rebuild on the rear suspension. I have about 500 bucks to put toward the rear suspension. I have seen some have gotten a shock re-valved, a few have replaced the shock, and some have switched out the skid to something else?

Never saw a suspension that could ride so stiff yet bottom out so hard at the same time. Because I'm over 300 pds I changed the skid for something that could handle the weight.

Others have had luck with a revalve!

I changed the rear shock to an Ohlin and had my center revalved and twisted spring put on it from Hygear. Night and day difference but, it is VERY stiff and takes its toll on me. I'm not sure if the rear shock is rebuild-able on those. The stocker on my 05 Warrior was not. Maybe look into a Fox Float for the rear...? Adjustable and nicer ride w/o the bottom outs. My 2 cents worth...

you probably can get away with a revalve and rebushing the suspension.

i think the 03 had the rebuildable shocks like the vipers.

I have seen mono skids for sale for 450-500.That might be a better option. If you do some research many guys on here have put in other brand skids and they ride nice. You can pick up a good doo sc3skid for 300.00

over the summer I changed my stock 03 rx1 suspension out
for a 99 zr suspension with fox shocks.
I have only run it across the field 1 time, this thing really
hooks up now. hopfully the ride has improved.
can't wait for snow.
oh, picked the zr suspension up for only 50 bucks.

Seems like this is the #1 complaint with the rx at least it's one of the things I hated the most. The rough ride I could deal with somewhat but the lack of hook up sucks. I'm putting an expert x in my warrior for next season which should make my rx perfect for me. I found the expert x on here for $800 and the mount kit and side plates for $300 nit cheap even used but it will be well worth it.

Well I have a Edge rear suspension on its way. I did some reading and decided thats the way to go.

Expert-X all the way ! I am 300 lb and i don't bottom any more

good to know im 220 so i shouldnt have a problem. Is the weight transfer as good as everyone says? I cant wait to be able to lift the ski's again.(I use to all the time with my short track mxz 800 that had 180hp)

I have not played to much with the transfer, I had it installed at a local sled shop and they set it up and it worked perfect !

This is what I went to. For $400 it was hands down the best mod I did.
The transfer is wild and I can actually ride through the bumps. Not as cushy as an M10 but so much of an improvement there is no comparison to the no-action.

The 03 rear main shock is not rebuildable.

Good choise with the Polaris suspension, other guys have done the conversion with success, so also running AC and Doo skids.
