81 octane vs 91
81 octane has a lower temp. flash point,( temp at which the fuel will ignite )
91 octane has a higher temp flash point
Higher compression engines , require higher octane fuels, to combat pre-ignition (fuel igniting before the spark)
If your engine is designed to run on 87 octane, then running 91 is of no benefit, in fact , it's the opoisite,it's less officiant.
81 octane and 91 octane contain 10% ethonal (EPA mandated)
Recreation fuel, carried by marinas and some gas stations that cater to snowmobilers , has no ethonal in it.

Thanks for all the info , I will run regular and buy a couple of beers with the savings . I will make sure there is only premium in the tank before storage. I also use sea foam every couple of tanks. Thanks again.

Most premium does have not ethanol but I know Husky does. Although there mid grade is 91 and their preimium is 94 - both have 10% ethanol.

FYI, ethanol raises the octane of the fuel. That is why some guys run 13:1 compression or high booster (higher effective compression ratio) on E85 (85% ethanol).

I find my nytro tends to pop more when driving it around. I've seen lots of youtube that sound the same. When driving around and you get on the throttle then let off.

Some is probably acouted for my exhaust donuts. But on regular it doesn't hardly do it at all. No difference in power just runs smoother on reg.

Premium here from most dealers contains no ethanol. I tend to put a tank or two threw in the spring just to flush out the ethanol in it and store it with premium.

Our local station the 91 is ethanol free. I am the same as most on here I will continue to run 91 as long as it is ethanol free.

No you really won't notice a difference. It's not a performance thing. It's a matter of spending a small amount of money to avoid ethanol or not. If you have the same ethanol content in all grades there really isn't much to decide.

For the small difference in cost I think it better to be ethanol free
I believe in Canada this requires 91 octane. I am interested in the fitch catalyst though.

Ethanol just plain sucks! It's for drinking not engines. Have you ever torn apart a set of carbs pre ethanol era vs post ethanol era? The difference is amazing! Ethanol creates this green slime crap from Ghostbusters. Know I know the Nytro is fuel injected and is made to accept some ethanol but I feel ethanol is not good period. The fuel doesn't last near as long and the mileage isn't near as good either. It costs more to make a gallon of gas with 10% ethanol then it does to make a gallon without any. Ethanol is one of the main factors in our gas prices being so high and thanks to the good ole government! If I can avoid ethanol I will. Not trying to get political, just my .02. This is a topic that is like discussing religion, nobody wins!lol

Well after some reading last year and talking to my dealer I started using the Ring Free additive. Its suppose to reduce the ethanol sulfate salt left by ethanol fuel. From what I heard is people can tell the difference when pulling an engine apart that has used is vs those that didn't.

I run 93 octane. When I run reg.87 it runs hot and the temp light comes on a lot. Run 93 and I don't see the temp light.

Its just burning money using premium in this engine. Its not cleaner burning, it can handle ethanol and its not gaining any performance. So if you like to waste money because it makes you feel better, just send me some.

X2 fuel injected engines are programmed for a certain octane level. Unless you're going to run a PCV with a timing module there's no real reason for the high test.
