REGULAR or PREMIUM FUEL in my 09 RTX

A lot of people believe that a higher octane fuel will make more power, get better fuel economy...unless you have a high compression engine there is no need to run the high octane fuels.
I know from my own experience with my street bike, I used regular fuel since new, switched to supreme fuel and now if I run regular in it it will ping if the engine is lugged down at all. I have no choice one but to run supreme gas in it.

So what did switching from reg to supreme back to reg do to your engine that all of a sudden it pings. Doesn't make since that it would start pinging changing fuel back and forth. Did you do any modifications to the engine. I switch fuels if I can not get premium but run premium when I can.

After fixing sleds for the last 15 yrs I have seen the crap that ethanol does to engines. 2 strokes were affected the most but a jetting changed fixed it if you wanted to still run reg. Makes no since because jetting up only means you put more fuel through the carb anyway. So paying the couple of bucks extra was the same out come price wise except for no ethanol crap. Newer 2 strokes are designed to run 87 but I would still not doe it. Just my opinion.

I only run prem to avoid the ethanol. I have been building either race bikes, quads for motox and sleds for pure enjoyment for 20 yrs and I can't believe what ethanol does to your inner workings of carbs and motors. It't pure junk unless you mix it and make apple pie to drink!! Yum,yum!! :drink:
