I want to remove the primary on my 07 Phazer. I dont have a clutch puller - has anyone used the water trick to pull the primary? If not I will purchase a puller.

I would think oil would be better but I have never tried this.

People who have used oil says it leaves a huge mess afterwards. At least the water dries up and is easier to clean.

On Doo, their clutch bolt uses the same thread, but Yamaha does not.

i have used water to pull an old polaris clutch and i have used the water/ice method to get off a stuck yamaha primary that spun on the crank.
i usually use grease with a yamaha puller to pull my clutches as i bent/totalled a few not using the grease for added lube/hydraulic pressure.

This procedure really works great. Thanks 74Nitro. That was the info I was looking for.
I prefer the heaviest oil there is, like 80/140
Water works also, and others suggest pop.
The problem with grease is air pockets can remain.
I also wrap the threads with teflon tape.
