Just got my sled back from motor work and I think I still have air trapped since I have coolant coming out the overflow hose after warm-up. Shop has bled it twice but while on the stand today it started again. Removed the rear cover to access the bleed screw and put it on a milk crate but my patience ran out. Leave it for another day. Are these sleds a pain to burp the air out of? Any tricks you would recommend?

Another trick I read on here was to drive up a steep hill and then slowly open and coolant cap and even give it just a little gas and you should see the air bubbles coming out. I would not do this with the sled too warm or you could get a face full of coolant when opening the cap.
Whenever I hear of a engine with recent work done to it "pushing" coolant into the overflow bottle, I think of a blown or weak headgasket. If the gasket was not sealed properly or the head not torqued down correctly you could be pressurizing the coolant system. This is my experience with autos and bikes, these sleds may differ.

Thanks RR. My only thought of the head gasket is wouldn't I notice the coolant leak almost immediately after start-up? It runs 3-5 mins. before I notice a drip and after 7-9 mins. it's a stream.

I believe it would need that time to build up the pressure needed to overflow the reserve.

Did you ever get all the air out?
Yeah, I did finally get all the air out but had to burp it by leaving the cap off the coolant tank. It makes a little bit of a mess with coolant coming out of the tank but it definately works and I think it is easier to do by yourself then bleeding it thru the screw on the rear of the machine. The biggest advantage is you can see the air/bubbles coming out and when it finally burps you can add more coolant right away.
