No! back off spring adjustment remove two shock bolts and adjustment cable.

You can remove the shock without removing the skid.
First compress the spring with a spring compresser.
Remove C-clip that holds spring adjuster. Now with the pressure off the shock you can remove RA cable and the bolts for the shock.

Take bolt out of transfer rod, lift rear of sled and unbolt the shock.

Best way I found to compress mono spring is to use 1 1/4"rachet straps. I bought two of them at Home Depot, they must be the "endless loop" style, this means NO HOOKS, made by Keeper Products. Loop the webbing down the inside of the spring from top to bottom and then up the outside and hook the loop to the rachet. Repeat on opposite side of the same spring. Draw both rachets up evenly, a little at a time. I was able to even pull a "Big Boy" spring together very easily. I tried three different strut spring tools for cars but they did not work very good, these rachets work great and will not scratch the springs. You can use them to remove or install shock springs. I found a video on this on You Tube.
