Hi guys,
just wondering how do I remove the stock hand grips on a 06 apex? I've got a aftermarket ones to replace the old ones but they seem to have rivets through the rubber and the power lead build into grip.
If I remove them will I damage the heaters in the grip?

niko.

You have to drill out each of the rivits. You have to use a good amount of heat (from heat gun or a real good blow dryer) to heat the adhesive up. Heat and twist..heat and twist...and keep repeating. Follow the wire leads for each of the grips down and unplug them. Sometimes you can get lucky and get the grips off intact...other times, not so lucky.

Heating elements are glued to the bars. Use a blow gun with good air pressure and get the nozzle under the grip. This worked decent for me, it breaks the glue up a bit.

I hooked up a 2 amp charger to the wires and put on a pair of heavy gloves. Came off easy.

ok ao i got the grips off today with no heat, they just turned off with a twist.
But no elements under the grips they are in the grips. So now the set ive bought are no good as they are just grips, bugger :o| Will have to put the stock ones back on now.
