removing stock muffler and heat shield

im trying to remove the muffler. whats the easiest way to do this.got the clamp loose on the header.just tap the muffler with a rubber hammer?

I found it easiest to jam a screwdriver in between the slots on the muffler and twist. This loosens the clamp to the point that I didn't need to use a hammer.

I had someone pull and gently hit it with a rubber mallet like you said,I had mine off many times. This words fine for me
