Hi guys, before my last ride I decided to remove my transfer blocks just to see what difference it would make as I am always tinkering with suspension changes. As a result I found that I loved the setup I had and it actually rode better and was obviously more fun with having the ability to lift the skis at will ahah. So, my question is will having the transfer blocks removed for long periods of time be harmful to the suspension or is it safe to leave them out?
Thanks

Been running with no blocks for two seasons now, no issues yet. I agree, the fun factor was raised when I removed them, just a blip of the throttle and your skis are towards the sky.

You said "rode better" I assume you mean in the bumps... How did it affect the corner handling?

Im tempted to remove mine also. My extended nytro with a 136 has very little weight transfer. The problem is I do not want my skis in the air all the time since I am mainly a trail rider.

Instead of removing the blocks I might try looseing the limiter straps but this will sacrifice my track aproach angle.

I finally got some time on my 136" setup. I didn't think the transfer was much different than with the 128" relocate. There definitely is a reductions from stock but I can live with it. I also have the front limit strap pulled one hole shorter so I could let that out but for now I'm going to leave it. So far I'm liking the 136" with the relocate. Yamaha should have offered a Nytro LTX version.

Sorry about your accident grizz it has been a bad season for you.

I have my front limiter pulled down 2 holes and me rear pulled down 1. I felt the weight trasnfer was greatly reduced when installing the star kit. Im assuming this is due the sled being longer(more footprint). I want to adjust the straps but dont want affect the approach angle.

Does anyone know what the stock approcah angle of the nytro rtx is? How much is it reduced with the skid relocated?

let your front strap out a hole and put the rear at full length. I can still lift the skis 6-10" with this setup. My clutching and Ice Attack track may help a bit with that also.

grizz what psi are you running in your front shocks? Also how much preload are you running on the front skid shock?

I run about 50 psi in the main chamber but I also have the EVOL upgrade which I think are set at 150 psi. I also have an Ohlins center shock installed and before that I had a revalved RTX shock with Hygear's dual rate spring and crossover adjustment. I typically start with the preload soft and then slowly load it until I find what I like. I also run both rear shocks with compression set soft and rebound hard.

Nylon, U shaped stoppers just in front of the rear axle. They are held in with a single bolt.

Is there something similar that can be done to the xtx? obviously the rear skids are different...

I removed the transfer blocks when I went out west and added preload to the front skid shock and let the limiter straps out and still having tranfer issues. With the blocks out when taking corners I almost lost control a couple times because there was little ski pressure.

Im trying to figure out how to lighten up the front when laying into the throttle to avoid crap on the trail. Front end felt a little litte without the blocks but was squirmy.
