I'm having a problem getting the two bolts with allen heads lose that hold the y pipes to the tunnel. I'm afraid I will strip the heads out. Any suggestions on how to remove these? I was also wondering if they have any type of socket that I could put over the threads from underneath and lossen them from there. Something like a reverse easy out over the threads that I can turn clockwise from underneath would probably work fine. I have some of those sockets that grab worn out nuts but they only grab going counter clockwise.

When I changed my donuts last year I had the same problem. Get a good socket allen and a wrench. You should spray some penetrating oil on it and let it sit for a while. Something like PB blaster. More than likely you will still strip the head and end up drilling it out and using an easy out. I had to do both of them this way. I think it's just the heat and the exposure to the elements under the tunnel. So, a couple of sharp drill bits and a drill would be a good idea as well. Then a trip to the local hardware to buy some new socket head caps and your all set. The rubber plugs will go back on if you use standard head SHCS it just takes a little effort. Also I used a generous amount of Anti Seize when I reinstalled them, it seemed to help as at the end of the year when I inspected everything they came out fine.

Unless you are going to replace the Y-Pipe you may want to do some searching. I think that some were changing the donuts by removing the Header Pipes only, not sure. I personally would take tem out and fully inspect as it's difficult to see around them in the sled. Inspect you header pipes as well, this year one of mine cracked and had to be replaced. Warranty, but still a pain.

Good luck!!

Heat them up candy `RED` with a good set of ACETELYNE torches then start to loosen...it works everytime...and when you re-assemble them make sure to use ANTI SEIZE.

Did you notice the anti-sieze causing some smoke or steam and smell the first few times you fired up the engine and got things good and hot?

Heat them up! Mine came out ok on Attak. Did the Vector first without heat on one and stripped it. With heat the other came right out. Good luck!

Yes its normal...its a oil/grease type product and with the exhaust getting extremely HOT it tends to burn off but some of it will still protect againts corrosion. ;)!

Thanks. But I was a little nervous at first. I thought maybe I had a wire or hose where it shouldn't be and it was lying on the exhaust. I did a double check and all looked good so I figured it must be the anti-seize burning off.

In the micro fiche, are (15) the bolts that are the difficult ones to remove?

When I did mine last winter on my 06 attak. I took my dremal tool with a cutoff wheel and cut a slot in it for my screw driver impact tool and got it out that way. Then I went and bought new bolts with hex heads and lots of never seize.
