Wondering how big of a job it is to replace the steering column that the bars bolt to. Do you have to remove the engine? Can it be done in the sled? The service manual talks about what to remove but doesn't give any insight to how to get access to those parts. thanks

You have to take off the seat and the gas tank to get at the steering column. If you go into the Yamaha parts finder and go to steering and steering gate once you find your model of sled it will show you a breakdown of where all the parts are, Ken.
Easy job, it goes around the engine. You dont have to remove much like was said. Seat, Tank. Depending how much you need to remove (oil tank, coolant tank, battery box..bla bla. Engine doesnt have to come out.
