I ride a 06 apex gt and for the most part am preatty happy with it, I have never rode a rev though and from what i here they are amazing at soaking up the bumps and trail performance, Lets face it the trails are going to be bumpy somewere or another, atleast were i ride. I want to get some opinions from someone that has ridden both, are they really as good as people say or do u think the apexs are comparable. I know this is a yamaha site but just looking for some honest opinion because i take a beatting on my apex sometimes and am constantly bottoming out. I plan to get revalved this summer not to mention just looked under skid and already rusting out only a 1000 miles for 10000 dollars, were is the quality we pay those big bucks for.

Ive ridden both... The rev is only better in the REALLY NASTY stuff.. where the weight difference shows! i did feel like i was riding a jackhammer because of how far forward you ride.. (the new 08s should be better)
The apex is 100lbs heavier had has to fight really hard to go as fast in the nasty stuff and soak up the bigger bumps..
Although on a side note ive never had a tough time keeping up with anyone.

I have a 06 Apex GT and a 05 MXZ 600 HO.
Its in the background of my avatar pic <
The Gt is wonderful on groomed trails when riding high miles for the day but when it gets bumpy and with many tight corners on Tug Hill I fight the GT and its weight.
Edit-Let me add that I put Floats on the front and Hygear revalved my Ohlin and I have the dual rate spring kit on.GT is better but still not up to the bump ride the MXZ has.
I have ridden both back to back on 140 miles days and the 05 MXZ leaves me (my back) feeling better the next day if the trails were the least bit rough.
For me the 05 MXZ is like trail riding a pickup truck empty.
The GT is like riding a pickup truck loaded with firewood.
The MXZ zips in tight trails and bumps where the GT screams on groomed straight trails.
I rode my 05 MXZ in Feb and switched for a bit with a friend that has a 06 MXZ 600 sdi.The 06 is even a little better than my 05,felt more stable (being lower) and had the pilot skis which handled decent.
The new Yamaha FX Nytro RTX might be the ticket for when the groomed trails turn nasty later in the day.
There is more here.

rev vers apex
I too have an 06 apex gt( with hygear dual rear shock set up)and 05 800 revx with hygear trail mod set up. For smooth trails you cant beat the yamaha when the trails get rough you just cant confedently ride fast for very long. If you ride mostly rough trails (Tug Hill on the weedends) and you are an agressive rider then get the rev. Yes on the rev you are siting so far forward that the handlebars go up and down wile hiting bumps but your back stays relitivly still. I have noticed if you put the hammer down in the rough stuff with the rev it will skip over the bumps. I have test rode the new nitro rtx twice ( once on smoth trails and once on tug hill on last sunday) , the snow was mealy on sunday with one to two foot mogals The 08 nitro rtx was set about right for me 250lb I was starting to get used to it. The sled went over the bumps ok. Then I rode my rev over the same bumps and it was alot better I could go as fast as I wanted just skipping from the top of one to the other. I was going to sell my rev it has 7000 mi on it now but that ride changed my mind. Though I blew a piston at 6300mi due to bad carb boot. and it cost me 900.00 in parts and I fixed it myself. My apex is at the dealer with motor problems now (CAM SHAFT HOLDER BOLTS BACKED OUT).

06 attak chiming in...
my attack has a pioneer revalve and different spring...simmons ski's with shapers....I recently rode three hundred aggressive miles with a f 7 sno pro and a 600 sdi ...I was by 20 yrs the oldest in the group....since my revalve I can honestly say this is the best all around sled I've ever ridden...the rev can and will take the big rough better at 100 lbs lighter...but it's not night and day...in everything but the bigger stuff...them younger guys where amazed at the performance of what they called so much heavier of a sled...
in the end ....most of the love rev owners have of their machine gets washed away with stories of how their machine or their buddies rev left them stranded or having to rebuild sometimes two or three times on almost new machines...
