Is it just my Yamaha sleds or does the majority of Yamaha owners feel their reverse lever is always acting funny?

Never feels like it wants to engage, kinda have to drive forward like 0.01555" and then it may engage or perhaps you'd have to go another 0.00555" and then it'll engage?!?!

WTF

I love my Yamaha's bigtime though!

I've used grease rated for -20F, adjusted the linkage but she always finds a way to never quite engage.

Never works the first time unless warm and in the garage, and then?

YES IT IS COMMON... MAKE SURE YOUR IDLE IS CORRECT , NOT TOO HIGH , AND THAT THE SECONDARY IS ADJUSTED TO NOT PUT DRAG ON THE BELT AT IDLE . NYTROS ARE BAD FOR THIS BUT THE REST ARE NOT MUCH BETTER,AND IF YOU HAD A ARTIC CAT WITH ELECTRIC SWITCH, SOME TIMES THEY DON,T ENGAGE AND THEN BLOW UP CHAIN CASE..

A mechanical reverse requires gears to engage. Unless the gears happen to magically line up perfectly when you choose to put it in reverse, it will require a little rocking back & forth.

I agree this is why it seems finicky.

It is annoying but I am used to the manual reverse now and I prefer it over the viper reverse. I know it probably works smoother and better but I just dont trust it.
