Reverse light on and beeping while going forward

Second ride on the GT yesterday, and at the end of a great 93 mile ride, the reverse light on the pod came on, along with every icon under the mileage, and the reverse beeping sound. I was still moving forward. I tried turning the sled off and on, but it did not help.
I was finished with my ride, (this occurred in the last mile of my ride), and as I was loading on the trailer, I noticed it would not go into reverse. When I loaded it on the trailer, it corrected itself.
I contacted the dealer this morning, and he was stumped. He asked me if I was using high test gas?!
Any suggestions?

Also, I did notice a lot of ice buildup from the tunnel design, and my legs did get wet and freeze. Otherwise the sled is awesome.

Thanks,

Cork

That sounds like an electronic glitch since the speedo went kinda wacky and the alarm was going off. Could be any number of electrical shortages, something not grounded, or something faulty...electrical problems can be such a pain to find cause there's so many possibilities.

When either the green drive light or red reverse light blink, it indicates that the gear is not engaged. While guys on here say that rocking their sled back and forth briefly will cause it to go into gear, I've never had the problem after the chaincase oil has been able to get some movement in it. It's only when the sled is dead cold that I've had the issue, so I don't bother using reverse until either the track has had a few turns on the track stand, or I've driven it for a minute.

The reverse light was not blinking, it and the drive light were on steady.

I am going to check it out later tonite and see if it does it again.

Thanks

wasn't there a problem like this on this site before? I think people found the reverse power wire going to the servo motor grounding out on the hot exhaust pipe?

Put the Side panels on the tunnel and you wont get wet clothes or build up! As for the Issue Disconnect the battery for a Night and hook it up if problem occurs Dealer Issue!

Does it have anything to do with the "Fuel lever warning indicator " on
page 5-21 in the owners manual ?

Fuel level warning is on page 5-6 on my manual, and section 5 only goes to 5-15. Do we have different manuals???? The cover on my manual has the following numbers: LIT-12628-02-60 and 8GK-28199-10.

Reading the Fuel Level Warning Indicator shows that you would get the same indication as if you were low on fuel, except that all the bars would be on instead of none or one. It has nothing to do with the green drive light according to my manual...Can you post what you see on your manual? Does it really have anything to do with the drive light?

Thanks!

The Swedish version looks like this. It must be some difference. The numbers of pages in each sections is, 1-2, 2-4, 3-14, 4-8, 5-60, 6-42,
7-44, 8-130, 9-20, 10-10, 11-18, 12-9.

OK I just got back from the dealer, and after 4 hours of diagnostics, including two calls to Yamaha. Yamaha told us it was the ECU, which it was not. We also tried changing out the pod, no go.

Final diagnosis was the reverse switch itself.

For the record, Yamaha was stumped with what the diagnostics were reading, (yellow check engine light, check engine symbol, low fuel symbol, error code 88, both the drive and reverse lights on steady at the same time, and the reverse beeping sound!!)

The reverse switch was ordered and will be in on Friday, so I will let you all know if that is the FIX.

Thanks!

Problem Solved!! Picked up the GT yesterday, with its new reverse switch, and it is back to normal. The shop mechanic told me had to take the exhaust out to get it changed out!?
Thanks for everyones help in trying to figure the problem out.
