Ugh!!
So what was your experience? Was it stuck in forward and just would not shift to reverse?
Could the sled still be driven??
The reverse actuator motor siezes so you are stuck either in revers or forward. I was in reverse and had to pull the motor and change it manually on the trail and then just rode it without reverse for a couple of days.
The detent upgrade had nothing to do with the motor failure.

Mine did it also went to unload from trailer and nothing thought maybe a wire so I figured just do it later got it looked it all over and then I started it and it was in reverse have not had time to play with it further, some one said chain tension might be to tight makes sense so I will check there first
I doubt it the chain has nothing to do with the actuator engaging. There are a lot failing just pull the actuator (3 screws) start it and hit the reverse button to see if it works.

This happened after the detent update just to be clear. Supposedly the new flash is going to help this also. Mine was stuck in forward. No warning at all. Tried backing up to gas pump and nothing. Motor was dead. Was warranty. I am getting mine flashed tomorrow. Still waiting for the failed fuel line. Riding all weekend at group ride and forgetting about issues!Ugh!!

Surprised nobody has made a manual one. When warranty runs out if it fails that's what I will do.

Pulled my 2015 SR Viper LTX-DX out of shed and NO reverse. Dropped it at dealer for warranty repair. It worked fine when put into storage. Will post results so it's not just a 2014 issue.

Yes these reverse motors are not very reliable. Seems if you do get a good one it lasts a long time. Just have to get a good one.

My reverse failed and I kept riding....until the sled starting popping over gears on full throttle. I hit a rock just hard enough to make it leak and I was lucky I only ruined the chain and gears. Damn window to check fluid gets dirty and looks like fluid is in there. If you have sketchy reverse check fluid.
Yup my reverse actuator motor failed the first year also. I ran for several weeks till the new one came in. It was a pain cause it failed backing it out of the trailer and stuck in revers. I had to pull the motor and change it to forward manually.

just don't back up.... remember we used to have to do that! Yiou could drill a hole in the cowling and use a T handle wrench the end of the shaft is square!
