I had a chance to put on 15km on our FX on our Farm. What an impressive sled! I dont think I have felt better low end throttle response on any sled. Corner to Corner in tight trails I don't think you'll be able to beat this sled. It felt lighter than an 440 and with the power pulse of the four stroke and impressive Low end of the Phazer engine, the sled just hooks up and goes(It is studded with 96 Megabites and has 9" of Shaper carbide on the front).

The balance was incredible, the tall narrow seat made it very easy to use your body to flick the sled sideways, the engine had so much bottom end torque it made lofting the front end incredibly easy, and the suspension felt bottemless. It lacks a little on top end, but 0-80km(95% of ridng on tight trails) if felt great.

I hopped on our Nytro right after, which has 144 Megabites, 9" of carbide and an 45" Wide front which helps a lot. It felt ancient compared to the phazer, very sluggish, slow to turn, you sat in it not on it, and it felt heavy. Until I rode the Phazer, I thought it had great throttle response, handled great, and you sat really high.

The Nytro was faster on top in the same conditions by about 12km/h but you aren't buying either for top end.

Yammie did a great job. It would be nice with more HP but only if it doesn't add a material amount of weight and screw up the balance, even with 120 hp it ain't going to win any races. If you appreciate great handling assuming the 120 is heavier just go buy the 80, awesome sled for tight trails.

If you want speed get something faster. For speed I've got an F1000 Cat coming with 180 hp with Y-pipe and Bullseyes(dealer will warranty this), no Turbos for me, don't need the Hassle and a 150 Apex doesn't cut it(we have two anyways) for top end, but I think I'll end up riding the Phazer just as much.

I liked the Phazer so much it happened that the dealer called and asked if we wanted to sell the Nytro as he had a buyer, he did a straight up swap for another FX, easy decision.

Great Job Yamaha, now go build an 180 HP Apex with Phazer ergonomics and I can stop buying Cats!

If the Phazer felt like it out pulled your Nytro on the low end, you got a plug wire pulled off. The Nytro will hang with an RX1 until 65 or 70. You better get that Nytro tuned up! I just got this months American Snowmobiler mag and they compared the Phazer to the Doo 550 fan, and they said the 550 fan pulled better down low then the Phazer. C'mon............ Maybe you got one with a turbo on it and you didn't know it, lol.

THE PHAZER WILL HANG OR BEAT ANY SLED NYTRO OR APEX OUT THE GATE, HAS BETTER TRACTION AND WEIGHT TRANSFER>..

I OWN 10 SLEDS AND I DIDN'T MAKE A MISTAKE BUYING THIS SLED, ITS BEEN BUILT SINCE 2004 and LIKE ALWAYS YAMAHA TEST AND TUNES BEFORE RELEASE... :ORC

It's a question of Throttle Response, traction and power pulse. With the EFI and Power Pulse of the two holer. It just hooks. Very easy to lift the front at low speed over bumps and ditches. It's one of the reasons the Ducati 2 holer Superbikes did so well against the Jap 4 holers for a while in Super Bike racing, traction/ power modulation were superior giving them a big edge.

To 65 or 70 MPH yes it would be behind, but 0-100ft (like on tight trails) in every day use it's going to be hard to beat a Phazer. The engine has incredible Throttle Response is very Lumpy in Torque down low and Revs like Crazy. Just putting around the engine is turning 5000-6000 rpm, it takes half a sec to get to 8500 and 500 miliseconds later the thing is over 11,000.

I have had about 30 sleds in my 25 years of riding. Most recently Firecats with EFI, Rev's with SDI, Apex's with EFI. None of them compare in throttle response and flickability.

It makes it very easy to control the Phazer with power mid corner, you don't have to wait for the engine to spool up.

The Phazer will never win any races, but it will put a huge smile on your face when you ride it in a tight trail. With the throttle Response and the front end that feels Sport Quad Light in terms of Weight and precision. I think it really does raise the bar in terms of ergonomics compared to the REV.

You'll never satisfy the need for Straight line speed with this sled. But for tight trails, I've never ridden anything better.

Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for confirming my decision to put one of these on my trailer next to the Apex GT. ;)!

same here, cant believe how good the throttle response is.drove both my warrior and the gt yesterday and there is no comparison on low end torque,i think the gt is gonna smoke the warrior on take off

The more I think about it, what the Phazer really reminds me of is the Snoscoot/Snowsport. We have a few of these for the little ones and they are a hoot to ride, and wheely like crazy as the front end is so light. The Phazer is just a grown up version, it handles the same and really reacts to Body english.

Yamaha should/could have built this (a big version of the Scoot) 18 years ago when everyone was asking for it. It would have been 2 stroke at the time as 4 stroke technology wasn't good enough, but we wouldn't have had to wait 18 years for the great ergonomic design of this sled.

I really hope that the 120-130 hp version is a 750 triple based on the Phazer, or my most preferred option is an YZ450 based 900(best low end torque) I don't think either option should add more than 15lbs. Dropping the Vector Motor in will just add way to much weight, and it is realtively slow to rev, low revving engine, not sporty enough for this chasis, still a good motor though.

Wow, I guess Yamaha should quit building all the 150 HP sleds if they can't keep up. Mach Z look out!!!!!

2nd ride for me, and I got to ride my 95XCR600 a little bit(my GF had some issues getting up some hills)

Two totally different animals, but the mtn lite is great, the GF got on a couple times and now she wants one too..

We rode two up on the mtn lite, I wouldn't recommend it.. LOL
she's only 100lbs but man it was squirrelly, so if you weight 270 or more, I'd say its too much for the sled... ;)

I weigh 260 and no issues on the FX. Although mine is studded and has good carbides, which I consider mandatory for safety reasons on almost any sled(except MTN sleds).

Good to hear, I think it was probably the extra shifting weight on the back that caused the wheelies and instability...

Best part of the day was my loves snowmobiling...
first time out.

WOW! They must have found something with power since I rode them. They are a fun sled, but when I rode them they did not have a big bottom end, felt like my old Phazer 500 Fan. Excellent sled and I will own one in the next couple of years.

I just put 10 miles on mine, and they have more than a fan cooled phazer. Bottom end can't compare.

I didn't hold it wide open at all, but it gets to 65 pretty fast. kinda creeps after that.

7-8" of fresh light snow, so, no traction at all, sled still stands up and goes.

It MAY do 85+ MPH on hardpacked, but not much more than that.

It is a BLAST to ride though.
