riser and hand gaurds ?'s

I got a 06 apex gt, I'm looking at putting sportech hand gaurds on, also wondering what I could use for a taller riser, the factory riser is around 4 1/2" tall, how much taller can I go without changing cables, any input on this set up would be very helpful,

2-3" higher is all u can go for.

I would suggest getting an 06" mountain riser from the apex mountain, its an inch taller than 07'. Go to yamaha's microfishe, record the number than order it at your dealer. I like this riser, because it doesnt not pivot and keeps your steering on a rotational axis and not all messed up like pivoting risers.

The guards will clear your windy no problem, and Id reccomend using a powermadd mounting brackets, theyre the best! I have installed many handguards including some bright green sportechs with the powermadd mounts.

I have the Apex mountain riser on my 07 Apex GT and it added about 1.5" if I remember correctly. I have the Red Chrome Sportech guards & mounts and they just touch the windshield at full turn.

I'm 6'2" and went with ROX 2" pivot style and love it, the other nice thing you wont have to change your cables everything stays OEM...here's a pic...
