Rolled my Nytro on it's side.

I rolled my Nytro MTX on it's side today. I pulled it up on it's skis talked for a couple of minutes, then restarted it. The oil light was on. I let it sit a few seconds running with the light on, it stayed on. I shut it down, then restarted it and everything was normal, no lights and it ran fine.

Later I rolled it again, all the way over this time. On the roll the shutdown switch was tripped. This time when it was re started there was no light.

I ran for about 50 miles today and that light was the only anomaly, the light was about 5 miles into the day. Ran it all day and never had another problem. Any thoughts?

What code was displayed? If the oil pressure was low the sled should have shut off.

Oil most likely leaked out of the breather tube. Check oil level and fill it back up. Clean the air filter.

I would invest in a roll over valve. Shuts the sled off and closes a valve so you don't look oil out the breather tube. I just got Mtnviper's kit and very happy with the set up, the plug and play is nice.

Yeah, the rollover valve is on my list, I will install one this fall. I guess it's normal behavior to have to re set the key to turn off the light?

Codes should clear themselves when the problem is solved. Make sure the oil level is good and between the lines with the dip stick sitting on the tank not screwed in.

You really need to invest in a roll over kit. Either from OFT or mtnviper. Look at them both and make a decision, I opted for the one from OFT.

The only way that light resets is to cycle the key so you ate exactly right. I can't begin to explain the piece of mind it gave me to have the rollover valve on there. Every time the sled was on it's side at all before I got it I was very worried.

The valve from OFT is the same but has the best tether system on it. I prefer that one but anything is better than the way Yamaha left it. Good luck.

I am beginning to wonder about my Yammi decision. It seems as if I'm putting a lot of money into this thing to correct factory flaws, and catch up with the two smokers.

My list so far is:
-OFT Rollover
-OFT Relocator
-new track, maverick is bending over quickly Camoplast CE
-Trail Tank, don't want to be the one stopping the group for fuel, get enough $h!% as it is being the only 4 stroke
-MPI supercharger, gotta keep up with the new 800s
-Schmitt Bros Figgitty Front End Fix
-Schmitt Bros Clutch Kit

So I'm looking at spending $7000 on this sled to help it keep up with the newer two smokers. I could trade the Yammi and my old Summit and add the $7K and I have a brand new just about anything. Makes me wonder. To top it off this things really twitchy (I can't keep it up one one ski smoothly, I am constantly correcting, over correcting, and under correcting) on one ski compared to my buddy's M8.

OTOH I like to be different and if I can get used to this thing and it's quirks, I don't mind spending the $$.

before you buy the schmitt bros front end fix i would look at the skinz new A-Arm kit!!!

It fixes alot of the handling issues.

I have chatted with someone who rode one of the test units. The improvement in worth waiting for.

Several guys have gotten take off tracks from a cat and used them with success and saved some money.

With the Trail Tank, you will be the one laughing at the end of the day. When your buddies have dumped their fuel, and have to go home, it will be your turn to give the bad time.

Yeah, I saw the thread on the Skinz kit, it sounds really interesting. I have all summer to wait for the kit, I guess I'll see what happens. The Power Claw is also an option, I've seen them around new for $610, I'll keep looking for one all summer too. The MPI will be on the back burner, and may have to wait for a year.

I definitely like the sled in a lot of ways, just when I look at the total $$, I could buy just about anything I want brand new. Of course, I'd be customizing that too. The engine and great fit and finish of the Yamaha still has me leaning BLUE.

I do not want to bash the other brands because they are fine sleds and handle better but I do not think there was one time that I rode that I have not seen one them being towed out. It is one thing if you hit a rock or something but these were all engine failures. There is something about being 40 miles in knowing that I am getting out.

Here's my take on it. I think there are a couple absolute must do's to the sled (skid, track) Out of everything I have done to my sled I think the next best thing I have done is just ride it. My front end is bent up, bushings basically missing, ball joints shot, stock ski's and I love riding my Nytro. I'll run 80 mph down a trail or carve/side hill all day, I don't notice the Nytro quirks anymore, as a matter of fact I love carving, side hilling more than about anything.

That being said I Have absolutely no doubts that the Skinz front end will make big improvements in the sled I have just learned what to do to make my Nytro do what I want it to do.

Then there is the grin on my face all weekend when I put on 150 miles of powder riding and 80 percent of that being over 8k rmp's and I know I don't have to worry about my engine at all. Find a 2 stroke with 3k miles on it that can say that let alone one that has had as much abuse as mine has.

When the new M8 came out I was sold and I was buying one, But then I thought a little more about it and I love my Nytro even if it is a Pain in the... sometimes. I'll be running my 08 At least one more year until something really great comes out that I think will put up with me for years.

Much like you have said, no matter what I own it will be torn apart and I will be changing stuff on it, but even if I build a new chassis it will be Nytro powered.
