Roller question???

BBy (matt) told me the larger roller basically just make the clutch engage at a slightly higher speed,,, Smaller roller create more belt squeeze!!

I concur. Smaller rollers make your weights have more effect. They will drop your shift RPM too because the sled thinks they are heavier than they are. That's a tuners tip if you're close on your clutching. Try larger or smaller rollers.
The 03 RX-1 mountains came with a 16.5 roller and I think the shorties came with the 15mm rollers. What do the Warriors have? 16.0? PB

Rollers

The smaller the diameter the more force on the belt, the larger the diameter the force lessens. As the diameter goes down so does the engagement. Bender has a 14.0 roller whichis the smallest I have seen and recently I saw a 17.0 someone was selling. The idea that increasing the roller size to 15.6 increases force is misleading. The engine can overcome the force of the weight easier with the larger diameter.

Yamaha probabaly used the larger rollers to get those crappy stock ramps to rev. The 03 owers manual said full shift of 10200 after appr. 1/2 mile. Poor set up.

Yamaha went to the 15.6 roller because of the addition of the 1.25 ripsaw track. They need to compinsate for the taller lug with more engaugement RPM.They should have kept the 15mm roller and added soem preload to the primary spring. in my opinion. You want as much belt squeeze as possible and the smaller roolers give more.
