That or maybe because its a 4-stroke it has a wide enough powerband that it doesnt need the quick-shifting nature of the roller.

Yamaha hasn't ever had a production roller secondary. They used the old style secondary on the Phazer due to the low costs of production. The secondary works very well on this little 80 hp thumper.
