Dealer suggested that the bars can be rotated back from the 'factory' position on the Attack / Appex for a more of a sit down set up (as apposed to a more rider forward position).
Looking at the 'forward bend' in the bars, it looks like rotating that bend back towards the rider would accomplish this, and gain a good 3 inches backwards in the bar position. Has anyone here tried it?
My Dad is huming and hawing over an Attack GT, but doesn't like the rider forward position and quite frankly doesn't think his knees would handle it anyway. Any feedback would be appreciated. WB

the rider forward of the apex is not as drastic as that of the REV.. If anything it is easier on the back than sitdown sleds..
If he move them back he should easily be comfortable in the knee department.

I was worried over the samething before putting on 1200 miles in 06 late on an APEX............NEVER had or know of someone having a problem because you can still stretch out. I loved the position so do my wife, son and mult friends..
I checked and could find several rider forward DOO's who complained of knee pain but not one yet that I have seen on the Yamies, Now the Phazer may be different will have to watch.

If worse comes to worse, you could buy an articulated riser and go against the norm and tilt it backwards for an even more "old school" sit down position.

Or you could swap seats with someone with an RX1 or a Vector. I guarantee you could find someone here that would do it in a heartbeat.

Like Welter I put the 2" Rox riser on my RTX. It is a sweet set up. Pivots like a dream and being billet just adds to the bling bling. I have to install one I have for my wifes Vector, at her request.

Articulating riser
I was thinking of installing one on my wifes 07ER but was wondering how it would work with the chrome trim bezel thing around the tank panels.

Bar rotation-yes
I adjusted the handlebars on my Apex when I first got it last fall and it works good, no change in risers.
The dealer had it so the handlebar hooks were straight down, but I rotated the bars back and they point forward just a bit, not quite 45 degrees of an angle. (Hope this isn't too confusing)
Might be able to tell by the pic?

Schmeg, The Rox riser sits on top of the existing billet one already on your ER. There is no interference, and bein billet it looks like it was meant to be. Think snow!!!!!!

The riding position on my 06 Attak made it the most comfortable ride I have ever had! No more sore back....no more sore knees. I think your dad should try riding it stock first.......then put him on an older sled without the rider forward.......he will then see the benefits and feel the comfort.
I used to be the racing type of rider.......now I'm all about comfort. Yamaha hit a home run as far as I'm concerned with the gental rider forward possition.........
