What I thought about the 06's

Bob and all the riders of the Brainard ride....The Attak still is not final calibration, all of the sleds will get better.

I know Brainerd ride was on a cold frozen lake no where near trail conditions. The bumps were very big and no where near real world conditions. Rock hard and frozen.

The RTX should not have a vibration other than the color on the steering column and that is fixed.

You should see the new pre production units they are 50% better fit and finish the color around the steering column now screws together and is chrome very cool.

If the rear end on the Attak was all over the place the RA was not set properly as you may have been experiencing too much rebound in addition this unit has the least calibration.

These are prototype sleds and some of the issues you had we did not.....these sleds are tortured and pounded for just that purpose, to make the full production perfect.

We had very different riding experience then you had and I know I bottom the skid but pulled over and set it up correctly, but I do have an 05 and new how to adjust it.

Its really strange that you had that kind of experience on them but ..I have a question??? When you rode thru those big moguls.....do you stand or sit ??? At the right setting, I was sitting and could easily ride through 2 foot moguls with very little kick or feel to my butt.....I watched other riders try to stand and told them to sit and the mono will work... its like the M10 ...it needs to have your butt on the seat for it to ride smooth....

Just thought this may help ;)!

What a blast I had todaqy getting to ride these machines in Brainard. We could only ride on the lake with one very small stretch through a swamp which had some big bumps that were 12-20 inche tall They did however resemble the type of bump I encounter often where I ride in MN, WI and MI. The course was a bout 2 1/2 miles long, they had a groomer break up the snow, on our course. The temp was only about 10F when we started. I am 6'0" and 230ish with my gear.

Nytro-I liked everything about this sled and it put the biggest smile on my face, the transition from sitting to standing seemed to happen without thinking. It felt super light and easy to through around. It Flat out flew through the bumps, wish we'd had more to try it on. This was the only sled I rode today that I was not able to bottom out. The quick response from the throttle was neck napping. The Nytro has the highest bar height, it is 2 inches taller than the gt, rtx and attack and the seat was highest too. Oddly enough for me this one seemed to stay planted the best with little or no ski lift on the hard packed frozen lake top. The windshield is worthless but who cares. I was most surprised by this sled for the fun factor. The only thing missing is that 70 mph punch the 4 banger has.

RTX- This an awsome ride the new fi is unreal in how fast it responds. The rider position is very natural, easy to move way forward and lean into a fast 60mph corner. You could also just sit back and cruise too. Not as easy to stand up on as the nytro due to the lower bars. I think the fox floats were low on air because this was the tippest sled I rode today. It felt lighter than my 05 rx. I did notice a vibration on this sled in the 45-85 range. I easily bottomed this sled out in our short bump section, later looked at the shock and it was on the 7 position with the tunnel on almost full hard. I talked for a long time with one rep about this. Maybe the spring is just tired or its a proto but I would need more rear susp.

GT- Much the same as the RTX for our conditions only I thought this sled had a more responsive power plant and was just unbelivable how smooth it is, and the sound is incredable. I saw 112 mph on this one in a pretty short distance. This one bottomed too but not as hard, the front end felt great. The elec. shock was set to full for my lap and at high speeds (80+) in the full hard position it kicked you in the butt over the rock hard bumps on the lake. You need to be stopped to adjust this. What an awesome sled, very minor tuning it would suit my needs to a T.

Vector GT- Comfy smooth and quiet. Very light feeling, I had not ridin one before and loved it. Much, much ,much warmer than the the appex's. Saw 104 mph on this sled, stable and predictable. The 3 bang really surprised me. There will be one of these in the garage in the next couple years. I would hold out for EFI. It is sneeky fast just not the same wham that the 4 bag has to offer.

Attack- by far my least favorite sled, I felt the extra weight right off and it was the only sled through the bumps that I thought the rear end was all over the place plus you could feel the weight in the bumps and I bottomed it hard. It also IMO pushed around the corners. It was very stable and it sure does hook up but for my riding I'll stick to the 121's. It also felt like the extra track cost you from 60 mph on where the GT would flat out set ya back, the attack didn't. I really never have bought into the threory that 136's go over bumps better than 121's and the extra weight would not be worth the floatation you get as it is very rare we get any boondocking around here.

Some closing thoughts. Yamaha has put out one hell of a line up, these are amazing snowmobiles considering where we were 4 years ago. All the mono sleds need stiffer rear springs for my weight. Rider forward is awesome and very natural. The fi 4 bang is the coolest power plant in any sled, period. I will have one next season or the season after. The nytro is just a blast to ride, a huge homerun with this sled. The vetor gt might be the perfect trail sled in the most catagories. I'm holding off on judging the fox floats until more people ride them next year. If I snow checked right now I would be getting an Appex ER, if need later adding the piggies to the front. Since you have to stop to adjust the olin shock I think I can reach down and turn a knob for the $$ savings. Plus I want a blue one. I won't be buying a 136 anytime soon. My 05 is still a great sled and I can't wait to put more miles on it before moving up to an appex.

Our lead guy was the one riding the nytro and others on the consumer dvd and he flat out hauled #*$&@ on a venture 2 up.

I'm sure I've forgot a few things and will try to give an honest answer to anyones questios.

Thanks Tom for the opportunity. :rocks:
Bob what is the reason, that we cannot program the new rear shock on the fly,i thought that was the reason for the toggle switch, like the m-10 electric rear shock, push button on fly,now i am a little dissapointed in the gt if that is truly the way they will be delivered from yammi WOW is all i can say,now i am depressed, that was the main reason to get the gt,plus the front clickers are sweet.

I hit bumps like we hit today in the real world all the time. You may not have had the pleasure of riding our north shore trail between duluth and grand marias mn. And who hasn't ridin some whoppers in and around Hurley at 2 in the a.m.

I have an 05 too and know how to adjust them.

The rtx vibration is know dought a proto type issue and due to being pounded.

The rider position and hadling in general on this line up is stellar and a big leap forward.

I didn't comment on the fit and finish or small details at all knowing that production will be better.

Apex er for me I think. ;)!

mnmsnowbeast...when I tested the El ohlins, it worked...I was adjusting it on the fly as well as all the other riders where.

I have riden in those areas.....I dont know what to say Bob...the sleds all worked great for us in WI...I dont think you are the only one that can pound a sled :D ....I can destroy a sled with the best of them...LOL

You know what really strange is I was asking what valving changes they had made to the monos becuase my 05 didnt ride as good as the Vectors with the mono shock.....I am speechless

SRXBOB We should find out for sure on the adjustment of the GT electric shock.. I asked the same? you did and was told one of the nice features of this shock was I could adjust it on the go and no stopping. Were getting 2 different answers. That is way when you push the button on the dash guage it gos to the shock mode and lets u change the shock. Then the picture on the guage goes back to fuel guage picture but if you push switch on handle bar it will revert back to shock mode.

Tom I am not saying they didn't ride well, they rode awesome. I agree the vetors rode better than my 05 rx too. I thought all the appex's needed more spring for ME. I did not make sure all were adjusted to the more stiff position we were having to much fun riding them. The rep said most sleds were set up for average size rider.......whats that 180-190. Convert didn't bottom any out at 145 pounds. And like Terry said the GT blew a seal and I rode it before him.

*EVERYONE each of these like any other sled will need to be tuned to you and your style*.

mnmsnobeast.....I'm sure Tom has the skinny here I did not try to adjust the ohlin on the fly I had just asked the test driver lead guy after and he said no it was not.

I still need to buy the firmest spring for my RX, I have not because it might be my wifes sled next year.

Nice well-balanced review Bob!

I have the same issues with my Monoshock - I am 220+ with all gear and pretty much have it on all the stiffest settings. I love the suspension - it is equal if not a little better than my M-10 - particularly because it allows for better transfer.

Boy, the answers on that one seem to be all over the board. The Yamaha guy we were asking about the adjustment feature said you could set your handwarmers, and then press the mode button and leave the sled in shock adjustment mode. Then, any time you wanted to change the shock setting all you had to do was hit the left warmer button. What I didn't think to ask was if you had to do this each time the sled was started.

I've never ridden a sled prior to buying it. Maybe I need to wait for the '06 demo ride next winter. In the past I've always bought Yamaha's biggest sled. Now they offer the biggest sled in several suspesion variations. :o|

Actually, it was more like "Wow, I'm glad HE found that hole, I'm going to ride around it."

Then I laughed my a$$ off. LaLaLa

Jim, You are correct, thats what the rep said....and when I rode it , thats what I did.

Thanks tom,i feel better now knowing i can adjust it on the fly,now do you believe a guy that rides very hard like i do,and weighs near 270 suited up,needs to get a heavire rear coil spring for the gt w/el ??? thanks Pete ;)!

What will yammi have at snodeo

OK guys what do you think yammi will have for the guy off the street that came up to ride all the demo sleds, will they be the gt and rtx and such that you guys demoed or just 05 stuff with 06 graphics on them??? :4STroke:

At this poing I would wait. Its hard to say what spring they will put in the sled at final production.

I understand your pain....I run a heavy spring in my 05 ...so I know what you mean.
